Hey guys hope your all well. I’ve been struggling with irregular periods since I started at 13. The longest I’ve had no period is 2 years. I’ve been to the doctors and had the scan in which I found out I have PCOS
I need help on loosing weight because I’ve gained 3 stone over the 2 years. I have hair growing on my chin, acne and I’m really hoping one day I will be able to conceive. Can anybody help me on tips to lose weight and calm down the symptoms? I’m getting more and more hopeless and depressed about this and my Doctor is barely helpful

It’s a big adjustment and can be a shock to get the diagnosis, however you are doing the right thing on focusing on losing weight as this is most evidenced based way to improve symptoms and fertility.
I’d recommend reading and following Michael Mosley’s Fast 800 book and recipe book. Although it is written for type 2 diabetics, most people with PCOS are high/pre-diabetic. Even if you don’t follow the strict 800 diet, the idea of a Mediterranean diet is definitely the only diet I would recommend and try to make it a lifestyle.
Also, start taking Inositol.
Good luck and remember to have hope as PCOS can be managed.
I agree that is has to come down to diet in the end! Lots of people said this to me on here and I ignored it until I had nothing else to lose, waiting for IVF. I followed Kym Campbell's 30-day challenge principles - a similar way of eating to what others have mentioned.
Something between that, taking myo-inositol and a couple of rounds of Clomid and I fell pregnant, with my acne having already massively improved by that point.
Good luck! X
P.s. I'm slim already, but I have heard that for many people who have weight to lose, that is enough to help their symptoms.
