Hi everyone, I'm new to this, just wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me? When I was 17 (now 24) i was diagnosed with PCOS, my periods we're all over the place, at around 22 I went back to the doctors and they did another scan on me and said they had gone and there was no sign of them any more but my periods we're still all over the place, for the last 8-9 month a my periods have become regular and have been on the 3rd of every month so me and my partner thought we would give it ago again trying to conceive with out any help, only for this month my period not to come on on the 3rd and I'm still waiting for it, got so excited so I've been doing pregnancy tests which they have all come back negative. I'm booked into the doctors on Wednesday to go for blood tests to see if I am 100% pregnant or not. Anyone else ever feel like giving up on conceiving?

Hello
I totally get your frustration! after over 2 years we are starting IVF in a month.
I was also diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16/17. Unfortunately the presence of cysts on your ovaries is only one of the symptoms of the condition. You can have ovaries clear of the cysts (or follicles) but still have PCOS. The next thing is that just because you have regular cycles does not mean you are ovulating each month. My personal infertility issue is that I am not ovulating but I still have a period. To make matters that much more difficult for us PCOS ladies ovulation predictor kits are not reliable when you have this condition. You can only confirm ovulation using scans or measuring progesterone levels.
Fingers crossed that your test at the doctors wil come back a BFP!
If unfortunately it doesn't confirm pregnancy you could use that as an opportunity to discuss the next steps with your GP. Best of luck!! I really hope it is positive for you!

It's so frustrating isn't it, I'm trying not to get my hopes up, when I first got diagnosed with it I got told off the doctor I couldn't have children so you could imagine the mess I was in, then when I went to the gyno they told me she shouldn't of said that to me it will just be harder, then I moved home from Newcastle to Nottingham and went to the doctors and they said I did not have PCOS and that I am fine and and they should of never referd me to a gyno, and now I've just been left wondering about it all.
I hope it all comes back well. But if not I'm going to speak to my doctor and demand they tell me what's going on.
Cysts are only a symptom of pcos and not the cause so can come and go, sadly it is still thought they they are the cause, so you do still have PCOS.
If your periods are exactly on time then their is a good chance you are ovulating, anything more than 2 days off your norm means you probably arent. Also remember a period doesnt mean you are ovulating so you may not be ovulating.
Sadly Gp's often, still seem to suggest that you wont have children, I am 50 and was diagnosed 30 odd years ago and told the same and it is utter rubbish as it is really rare not to conceive just due to pcos.
The best way to check is to take your temperature and look for body signs, I know lots of ladies use the fertilityfriends website. The other thing to remember is a 1/3 of fertility issues are men so get your other half on the Boots Vit C and Zinc tablets to give them a boost. My husband had dodgy and two tailed sperm but his improved by over a 100% in a year by eating things with zinc in it and taking the tablets. It took me 3 years to conceive Noah and my periods were anything from 2-11 days late and he is now 13 and was well worth the hideous TTC time.
Remember also that you can ovulate without a period too so its nice and straight forward lol!!!
Thankyou for your response, I'm just wondering when do I check my temperature and what am I looking for? Like if it's to high or to low? Sorry I'm new to all this.
