I am only 17 and have recently been diagnosed with PCOS after an MRI showed cysts and blood tests were in line with a PCOS diagnosis. I am feeling very low and worried about how this will affect me. I’ve had a fine tell me that I will not have any symptoms from the condition, this is making me more anxious as I do not understand why I am in pain. I am looking to find others how are in a similar position as I feel quite lonely with no one knowing how to support me

PCOS
When is the pain - is it related to a period or not?
It is quite common to have endometriosis which does cause pain along with pcos which does not but endo is not easily diagnosed as needs to be via a laparoscopy. Look at the NICE guidelines and you should be referred to an endocrinologist as pcos and endo are their area so should be able to assist with both. Get your mum or someone to go with you to the GP as they do tend to put everything down to pcos as it is the easiest option so do need to be pushed sometimes which you may not feel comfortable doing.
PCOS symptoms vary from person to person, it isn't really an ovary issue but an endocrine disorder (men can have the condition too) so the name is misleading. Some ladies have no symptoms, some have a few and some have a lot. The combined contraceptive pill can keep the symptoms at bay, a low GI diet is good too as it can help.
Hello,
I am 19. I was diagnosed with PCOS over a year ago and have experienced pain for even longer which led to diagnosis. Last month I had a laparoscopy due to the pain and recieved the results today and all is well. PCOS combined with pressure from bowel movements is likely to cause pain as i have discovered. A healthy diet and regular bowel movements can help.
