Confused ..

This is a update from my previous post. My Gp arranged an ultrasound scan, and it showed that I had no cysts on my ovaries . She has concluded that I don’t have PCOS from the blood tests and ultrasound scan . Although I’m happy I don’t have PCOS, I’m abit confused as to what I have. I think I may have a mild form of hirsutism, but my GP says that I’m just hairy. However , I don’t agree with her because I’ve noticed changes in the amount of body hair have . She suggests that I “could just do electrolysis” even-though it’s very expensive , and I’m only 18 and still In school . Does anyone have any advice because I’m really depressed and lost. I know there’s something wrong , but my GP isn’t taking me seriously .

Was your testosterone raised when your blood was tested?

She didn’t say anything about my testosterone levels or even mentioned anything about insulin levels. I’ll make sure to ask her during my next visit

Hi onnomea

I have always been more hairy even as a child. But my manly hair didn't really start showing till I was about 22 and the cysts can come and go as they are caused by hormones.

But, I am not dismissing your worries, some people are naturally more hairy than others and this day & age every one is shaved on social media and wot not. Which makes us have unrealistic expectations of the human body. Even some man are concerned about being hairy. That's why I never took any notice of my hairiness! I just thought I was a hairy girl! Lol!

It was only because I didn't have any periods after coming off the pill that made me see the gp.

I was nearly 40 by then.

You could ask for a second opinion, that you are concerned, pcos isn't that well understood.

Please try not to worry, just look after yourself eat healthy, because if you do find at a later date the gp was wrong, they will help you.

Take care & please try not to worry xx

You can be diagnosed by symptoms alone, have a look at the NICE guidelines on pcos. The combined pill can slow down the speed of growth.
