Hi there I’ve been taking norethisterone since I was diagnosed with PCOS to induce periods. My main symptom is no periods. Any advice.

Taking norethisterone
hiya hun. Norethisterone does the opposite of what you have been given them for as I googled them a few weeks ago and found out that they are actually a type of the pill.
I have been on norethistetone in the past myself hun and they stopped my periods. I was (and still am) taking some other tablets to help stop mine (both norethisterone and the other tablets I'm taking (I can't remember what they are called) stop and or delay ur periods.
I believe norethisterone can stop or start your periods so I believe it is used for both - most ladies seem to be given provera to start a bleed tho from what I remember.
Would you consider going on the combined pill as it can improve pcos symptoms and obviously the bleed as well - I take 2-3 months on the trot as it reduces the symptoms further. You must have 4 periods a year to keep your uterus healthy so you do need to go back to the GP if you are not having them via the tablets.
Hiya.. I took norethisterone to start my periods after not having one for 8 months due to pcos. I took them for 2 weeks and within 3 days after I stopped taking them I had a period. I have now had a period this month naturally for the first time in 9 months. I’d just say take them as advice by your Doctor and give it chance to work.. x
