Hi just on here looking for some more info on vasculitis. My friend has had a kidney infection and has now developed large red spots all over her body. She has had the spots for nearly a month and they are still spreading. The only place left for the sports to go are her face and they have started appearing there today. She has terrible pain in her legs and arms and has no energy. She has been given painkillers for the pain but nothing else. Just wondering if anyone else has had same experience and how it can be dealt with, All comments will be so welcome as Im very worried

Are they like blood blisters the red spots you are talking about?

Firstly there are a number of vasculitis diseases which cause the patient to have spots or as Anthony asks, blisters.

You say she has been given painkillers and nothing else. Do you mean she is not on any medication for the vasculitis? Depending on which disease she has the treatment includes steroids and immuno-suppressants.

Have her doctors not discussed a plan for her on-going treatment?

Did they actually say which of the vasculitis diseases your friend has?

I agree with PatriciaAnn, your friend needs specialist Vasculitc help. Seek help as soon as possible.

Hi Cher, as others have said above, there is the possibilty that your friend might have vasculitis and several types of vasculitis involve the kidneys, so it is essential that your friend's kidneys are being checked regularly.

I agree with both comments.

I would say go to the doctors and ask for a referral. If she can't get one to go to A & E. That is how after numerous visits to the doctors, and in incredible pain, I finally got diagnosed. The GP's were trying, but I think they just didn't know about vasculitis.

It is vital that your friend has a diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible. The problem is our gps know little about vasculitis and there ate many off shoots, Please ask your friend to get medical advice.

I dont think the doctors have a clue either. The first time I took her to the hospital the doctor sent her home with painkillers. I then got a call at 11.30 the same night to say her daughter had taken her to A&E. They kept her in a is medical ward for 4 nights giving her pain relief and that was all then sent her home with more painkillers. The rash is now on her face which was the only part of her body that didnt have it. She has now been home from hospital for a week and a half and is getting worse. She said the pain throughout her body is unbearable.

u need to take her back she needs help and tell them that it could be vasulitus as she had blood test you can demand good luck
