Organising A Sponsored Walk

I am going to arrange a sponsored walk for Vasculitis UK next June once I am in remission. Details are currently posted in the Facebook Group.

Let me know if you can help with the organisation, have any press contacts or have some basics like Vasulitis UK sponsor form templates that I can use.

Thank you.

Allowed? Hells bells, volunteering to walk 50km on a day

Is enough punishment. I am going to campaign hard for a month to get an initial view of numbers to walk.

I've told friends they are free to choose their own charity though this is clearly my preference!

I am also going I will get the support of board colleagues ; I might collect some very nice corporate donations

50 km that is a long way good luck. Not sure I can do that many (no I am sure I will not do that many) but hapy to join you on the day.

I'm not sure I can do it Jann...but it's enough to motivate me and is something to work towards; as soon as my chemo ends I can really throw myself at it; another good way to try and shed the 10kg I've been gifted by the prednisilone :)

Would be good to see you for any part of it...

Just found out that a local hospice organise a similar walk, which gets a blaze of publicity and collects over £25k each year. They provide their own marshalls, water stations, maps etc on the day.

I have contacted their trustees just to be cheeky to see if they may be willing to share all of there excellent facilities and organisation with us in return for a small share of our own sponsorship takings....

Hi Wellsie,

That’s 31 miles in my units. It sounds like a great idea, I would love to join you. If you can piggyback on to the local hospice event then that would make organising it a lot simpler. If not the Worcester Birmingham canal (Diglis basin to Gas Street basin) is actually 50k. I have walked it, but like Julia Bradbury I didn’t do it in one go. It’s easy to follow but on the downside it’s point to point rather than circular.

Susan; how many T-shirts? I think in the end with some encouragement I might be able to get at least 20 walkers, though I am aiming for double this believe it or not.
