2022 - Reflection and Thank You

As I lay on the sofa this morning recovering from my latest infusion of Rituximab it dawned on me how far we have all come on these voyages we are all on. In different boats and in different parts of the sea in different conditions all trying to dock in the same port. A comfortable safe haven is all we crave. There isn’t a day goes by when I don’t think about how other people are trying to get through their voyage, on here sometimes defiant and other times feeling vulnerable, yet the one thing we all have in common is understanding.

For me 2022 has been a strange one, a lot of water has passed by, some of it choppy but progress all the same, I learn as I go along about this disease and how to cope with reoccurring situations but also how to manage new ones sometimes in total panic wondering “what next” the advice I have had when I have cried out on this forum certainly this year has matched and bettered the advice given by professionals because after all we are the ones that know don’t we? I will never be able to thank everybody enough who has reassured and comforted me. It’s made a huge difference to my life.

So as we move into 2023, who knows, we might get to the end of our journey, well at least a resting place, there could be medical breakthroughs, one of us might win the lottery and we may even get Evushield! So from me it’s heartfelt thanks to all of you who have conversed and I wish you a very happy and positive New Year.

Many thanks

Nick

hi Nick Happy New Year to you.

Like you I have found this group a life saver. It’s difficult negotiating an illness especially during a pandemic and a rare disease to boot.

It’s been brilliant to chat to others who understand what we are going through. As you so rightly say we are on the same sea but in different boats.

So to 2023 and whatever it brings, maybe we will be offered Evusheld or an equivalent without being charged thousands of pounds. In my opinion privatisation through the back door.

Best wishes

Hi Main1234, I think privatisation through the back door has been coming for a while mate, too often consultants who have contracts with the NHS are saying “I can do that” or “I know someone who can”! Yes into 2023. I always look forward and think positively which is a feat on its own given the current way things are. Take care my friend, I am away to Portugal on Sunday. Nick.

To 2023, cheers!
