I’m on Prednisolone and Azothiaprine. I’ve had the Oxford A-Z vaccine. Has anyone been tested for Antibodies and had a result following ? Should I get tested?

I was tested last August after testing covid positive in May. No antibodies found which consultant said didn't surprise him. I've had antibodies taken before covid vaccine was given and awaiting blood test a month later to see if I've produced any

Hi Rodelinda I too am on Pred and Azathathioprine and had the Oxford AZ vaccine about a fortnight ago. I participate in some Covid research by filling in a monthly questionnaire. The organisers of that research offered antibody testing to participants before they had any vaccine. Due to mine being held up in the post, I didnt get it until the day of my vaccine, and I contacted them to ask if I could wait for 3 weeks to do mine, as it would be important for me to know if the vaccine had been effective. They agreed to this, so I will do in a weeks time. The results can however take up to 8 weeks. I dont know how you could be tested for antibodies otherwise, i.e can you ask your GP etc. I think its important to know , but Ive not heard a lot about following up people who are immunosuppressed.

It’s a good question and I will be asking about being tested when I next have blood tests. I did read they are testing some over 80s to see if they have antibodies. It would be good if the extended this to the immune compromised.

I had AZ first vaccine last week. I’m on prednisone 10mg & on a break from Asa due to suspected reaction. I asked if I could have antibody test but was told it wasn’t in the protocol. That’s NHS UK. I will hopefully get the 2nd jab within a month
