Good news tonight for those of us who are on the shielding list for immunosuppression.

For the brief version see

gov.uk/government/news/jcvi...

And for fuller details, including the patient groups affected, see

gov.uk/government/publicati...

Speaking personally as a patient who should come under this I’ve been waiting for this news for weeks. It will take some time to roll out, but it’s a great step forward.

Boosters for others, including the elderly, have not been approved by JCVI yet,

Thanks Viv, was about to post this news myself this morning. Hopefully this news will be on the VUK website later today too.

Hi John, as I have just been recently diagnosed with TAK early August, I doubt I would be on any list for anything.Do you have any advice as to what to do?

Also as my treatments are all new as well I’m not sure when I get my flu and pneumonia jabs I should halt my treatment for a period? Prednisone and Methotrexate.

Thanks Dawn

Do you know if they are recommending that immune suppressant drugs are stopped before or after 3rd vaccine to increase effect? It’s all a bit confusing at the moment and I’m guessing the GP will not have a clue.

Wonder if John Mills has any information regarding this .

From the second link above:

"if not possible, consideration should be given to vaccination during a treatment ‘holiday’ or at a nadir of immunosuppression between doses of treatment"

And:

"The specialist involved should advise on whether the patient fulfils the eligibility criteria and on the timing of any third primary dose"

However personally I suspect that for many of us auto immune patients the practicality will be that we continue as we are. Unless told otherwise.
