Interesting autoimmune problem.
Very interesting article! The immune system is so complex- as are autoimmune conditions. From what I've read lately they are thinking more and more disease has an autoimmune element. The gut and the part it plays in our immune system and the role food has is fascinating and we still have so much to learn about this and other areas of life such as part stress may play. It also is an example of how hard many things are to diagnose - we tend to think drs should be able to do it easily with all our fancy equipment and tests but that isn't the case for so many things.
A very interesting read. I have Coeliacs disease ,which went undiagnosed for years. Doctors found it by chance when I was very ill a few years ago. I have since developed Rheumatoid Arthritis, & my daughter has Vasculitis. I am convinced that they are all connected, although my daughter does not have Coeliac's,thankfully.
People who have an autoimmune disorder are more likely to develop another - the label given to any illness depends on the symptoms rather than anything else. Many symptoms are common to a variety of a/i illnesses and what they label you with depends on which bits of your body is being attacked and so what symptoms you show. They are connected in that all are caused by the immune system not working properly - and it is likely there is a genetic connection to almost all of them, just they haven't identified all the genes yet.
