dapsone

is anyone taking dapsone,as part of their treatment

I was put on this 3 weeks ago,and feel absolutely awful,much worse than when I was on chemo

feel sick all the time,and sleeping nearly all day.

any advice would be welcome

Hi Quinster

I haven't taken dapsone, but according to the Route Map for Vasculitis this is an antibiotic which can cause nausea, dizziness, headache and insomnia. Maybe it might be an idea to see if your consultant can recommend a different drug, or maybe it needs time to get into your system. Sorry not to be able to give any personal advice.

thanks,ive just been swapped from co trxamazole,because that was causing problems with my bloods,feel like im running out of options

I have been taking Dapsone for the last year and a half, as I had to come off steroids as I had a big bleed. Started off taking 2 daily now down to 1 every 3 days, really got my Vasculitus under control. I don't feel that I have much side effects with the tablets, but can remember when I started them I was feeling really down. I am always tired but think that is due to my illness not the medication. I hope that your symptoms settle down and the tablets work for you.

Hi I was on dapsone and had to come off them because it was causing problems with my blood, (it was explained to me that my blood cells ere crumbling) i felt tired all the time and i thought it was due to the vasculitis. I started to feel better as soon as I was put on co-trimoxzole. I still get tired but nothing like when I was on dapsone.

As a footnote, I was on co- trimoxzole when I was on my chemo and the combination made me very ill. I have finished the chemo and now back on co-trimoxzole and I am fine

thanks for the replies,going to give it another couple of days ,and contact the hospital,feel terrible and just sleeping all the time
