I was finding it difficult to get help--apart from paracetomol- which usually sent me to sleep or was ineffective. After8 months I decided to try an osteopath--the result has been very encouraging. Hardly any pain after 2 visits. A bit expensive to contiue with it but worth it to be pain-free. Also exercising for a few minutes each day.

So glad the work of the osteopath is giving you some relief. Have you thought of asking your GP to refer you to the Pain Management Clinic?
I found that taking a little exercise, but keeping within my limits, has beneficial results. Rest and steady exercise will ensure that muscles remain strong and flexible. Gentle swimming is also a good means of exercise and may be helpful so that you are not aggravating your back problem. Some people find yoga helps.
