I’m looking into going to Australia for a year although I’ve got so many reservations and worries to do with health care and being transplanted 3 years ago
Has anyone gone abroad and can advice/ reassure me

15 years transplant here. Have travelled all over the world, Zimbabwe,Botswana,Namibia, Peru, Ecuador, Galapagos, Costa Rica , Borneo etc so Australia will be a piece of cake. The only problem I can see is arranging to get your immunosuppressants but I am sure that can be sorted. You will be fine, go for it!
That’s so exciting for you! We travelled to Australia a couple of years after my husband’s transplant but for a much shorter period so just took extra meds with us (and he did the usual hand-washing/avoiding risky food etc). My husband’s brother has also had a kidney transplant in Australia and receives great follow up care in Brisbane. I don’t have kidney issues but used to live in Sydney and found the health provision was excellent as compared to the UK. It might be worth reaching out to a transplant center or doctor’s clinic close to where you’re planning to be - I’m sure they’ll be able to offer advice and the reassurance you need. I wish you the best of luck (and tons of fun)!
