Notched music therapy

Just wondered if anyone has tried this and what the results were. I have my first appointment today with a local ENT doctor who specialises in T, so keen to hear what he proposes.

Yes, I tried that for quite a while, it made no difference to me, but we are all different and anything is worth a go. There are lots of tinnitus videos on YouTube, some get very good comments that they help people and reduce their T, I’ve never found any that help, apart from masking, but it’s something else to explore. Neuromodulation videos are something else to try.

Thats the thing, we all have T for different reasons, and in trials of the various treatments that I've read about, there are always a group who find an improvement, a group with no change, and often a group whose T is made worse. The trials done at the university of Auckland (Poly Therapeutic) sound very promising. It seems that maybe if the brain is prevented from hearing the T, by various methods, for a number of weeks, then new neurological pathways can be created so the brain ignores the T. Do you mask with external sounds or do you have an in ear device ?

I have a radio on all the time or the TV, when I go to bed I have three noise generators to help mask the tinnitus. I never use headphones or earbuds. There are some promising things being trialled. It’s about time it was taken seriously and a big effort was made to find a solution.

Yes, I have radios all over the place too. I'm lucky, my T doesn't stop me sleeping, but it really gets me down when I wake up! I think a solution will eventually be found, so we all need to keep positive.

Yes, I bought two white noise machines, though with a flashing light I didn't like or use after that discovery. The other was better as there were no lights and I was able to mix the sounds at different levels

It was quite relaxing, but sadly it made no difference to my tinnitus.

I recently had my ears syringed which removed a lot of wax from the affected ear, but again no affect on my tinnitus
