It was recommended in a magazine and has good reviews. You tune the app sound to your tinnitus and use through headphones for 10 minutes daily.
My reason for asking is that it says it uses something called notch therapy and I was wandering what exactly that is and also why only use for 10 minutes?
I could ask the developer but thought I would first try the BTA expertise.

Hi. Sorry, I wish I'd seen this sooner. You can use the app for longer than 10 minutes. But many users seem to settle on 2 sessions of 10 minutes a day to control their tinnitus. I'd love to know what magazine the app was recommended in - thanks
OK, no problem. I'm glad it's helping you - spread the word I'm having trouble promoting it, but it's certainly helped me and thousands of my users so far!
I have tried notch therapy but didn’t know what kind of volume level I should play it? My T is very loud especially at night and need to sleep, would be great if something would calm it...
I don't know whether you were directing your question to me but as a tinnitus sufferer and user of the Tinnitus Therapy app I will give you my experience.
I set the TT app sound via my phone volume control to a level where my tinnitus is masked and only use the app as and when I feel I will benefit which is usually first thing in the morning. I find the app has a beneficial effect. Also as you I experience my tinnitus louder during the night. I use hearing aids during the day so when I take them out my tinnitus is the most prominent noise I can hear. What I have found is using another sound app (sound to suite me) through pillow speakers plus practising relaxation techniques relative to monitoring my breathing help me get a reasonable amount of sleep. I have found overtime as, I think others do, I have become more relaxed about my tinnitus.
That's good advice. I actually use a bluetooth headphones eyemask thing I found online to play relaxation sounds for sleeping. I made a free app for this, but it is not targetted tinnitus therapy, just different nature and noise sounds to mix in order to mask background noise. You'll find it for Android by searching for RELAXIFY. Ross81 I would always say listen at a 'comfortable volume', by which I mean never causing discomfort. Beyond that, it really depends on your specific tinnitus and experimenting to find what works best for you. Like Giraffe70 said, WHEN you listen may also be important, but I really don't know about this - the studies I've read have looked at the effects of notched audio and the notch 'width', but not how the time of day for treatment may effect the efficacy of treatment. Also a note on this, since the treatment works by playing all the frequencies AROUND your tinnitus tone, it is not simply trying to 'mask' your tinnitus. As such, it may be that you have trouble 'masking out' your tinnitus with the treatment sound itself, as Giraffe70 suggested, since the idea is retraining those problematic neurons through 'lateral inhibition', rather than simply masking the sound... everyone is different though. Some experimentation is needed to find what works best for you. I hope that helps.
