hearing aids with tinnitus therapy

I am into my third week wearing a hearing aid (Widex 220 with Zen) that has tinnitus therapy (like random piano notes) thay "you learn" to ignore along with the tinnitus, Suposedly within a month the tinnitus while wearing them is not noticable and after 16 months not when you are wearing them!

Guess I can say there has been slight improvement (but its like changing a headache for an upset stomach!).

Anyone else had this type therapy? Successful? Timeframe?

thanks

Dan in Atlanta, GA USA

thnx Dan - I tried hearing aids and had to stop coz the T became unbearable when not wearing them. It was so difficult for me as I have a very severe loud tinnitus - anyway I manage without the HA's but I know they are beneficial to most tinnitus sufferers. Can I ask you Dan, do doctors in USA sometimes prescribe a particular medication to ease the actual tinnitus

Hello!! Perhaps these things might help you: 1. You must keep your blood pressure low as you can and is important to control whether you snore. 2. Take Magnesium L. Threonate (Only this Magnesium!!!) 3 hours before bed. Look for information, this magnesium is really good for brains. 3. Try taking Idebenone 4. Do you know Mimicking fasting diet of Walter Longo? In Argentina there aren't doctors to guide us with this diet, perhaps you can find one. 5. Look for white noise that fits for you. 6.And finally homeopathy might help you too. I’m doing all of these and my T is going down little by little. I wish you much luck!!

Otin Lucas on youtobe has many and very different white noise masking sounds which can help you. Yo must found one that, putting it at an adequate volume, clearly makes your T almost disappear.

While prescription meds in the States are prescribed to ease the associated symptoms of regular tinnitus such as anxiety, depression, and insomnia- none are prescribed to ease regular tinnitus. In the case of pulsatile tinnitus if a medical cause such as a thyroid deficiency or blood pressure disorders is found- meds are given.

its just i have seen on a facebook tinnitus forum and a US tinnitus forum that some people in US take Klonapin (clonazepam) which apparently can take the edge off the tinnitus

Probably prescribed off-label to reduce the anxiety associated with tinnitus. "Clonazepam is used to prevent and control seizures. It is also used to treat panic attacks. Clonazepam works by calming your brain and nerves. It belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines."

Hey Dan,

I developed severe tinnitus this past month. I'm actually flying to Atlanta to visit relatives next week. Is there a tinnitus specialist there that you'd recommend? I appreciate your help!
