Is anyone using a sound therapy app and are they any good. Presumably they just mask the sound to get temporary relief but do they help?

sound therapy apps.
I use calm and just downloaded MindEar. It is distracting me from the T during the day but keeps me awake during the night. If you are looking for something to help with sleep I don't find any of them helpful
Hello Pinple thanks for your reply. What do you mean by “calm” and I assume you have to pay a subscription to mind ear. Or can you get sound therapy apps ran by the NHS?
Hey! Unfortunately none of them are free. Calm was £19.99 for a year. There is the "green noise" I find helpful. It sounds like the wind is blowing. I ordered the sleeping band and will trial it. The MindEar is good in sense you can change the sounds. For example is you find waves and birdchirping helpful you can have it on at the same time or you can switch one or the other off. This one is free and you can unlock more sounds by doing activities. You have to be referred to an ENT specialist and audidology to have something on the NHS. My GP here is super crap. They did not do any investigations, basically told me suck it up. I am moving so hopefully my new GP is going to be helpful and will refer.
I started using the free version of an app called 'Insight Timer'. I liked it so much I eventually took out the paid version.
If you search for 'Tinnitus' it gives you masking sounds (e,g. white, pink, brown noise), meditations and courses (though some of those may only be available on the paid version.)
I've tried lots of their masking sound tracks, but the one that works for MY tinnitus is 'Tinnitus Sound masking - Certified soundscape' by Patrick Lynen. I'm able to play it alongside an 'ambient sound' and so I also have playing at the same time 'celestial strings'. But 100's of combinations to try (again - I can't work out what I got with the free version and what I'm now getting with the paid one)
I use the 'Resound Tinnitus Relief' app (free to use and downloaded from Play Store or Apple equivalent). You can use their standard sounds or mix your own (I mixed bird song with running water and use that if reading in a very quiet environment). You can also put the sound on a timer so it stops after a while. I don't use it at night but instead have a fairly loud ticking clock by the bed and focus on that: helps hide the tinnitus and the repetitive sound sends me to sleep.
Hope that helps
I use sleepa which I find really helpful. It's free (or a low cost per year). The free version does have adverts but I've worked out that they only kick in when you change to a different sound. Now I've worked out which sounds work for me (you can combine sounds) I just alter the relative volumes as and when.
I use Sound Oasis nature sounds app, just the free one. There’s a good selection of sounds and best of all a graphic equaliser where you can adjust the sound to suit you- and then save it. It also has a timer and will fade out the last few minutes. I just pop my phone under my pillow, on quite low volume. It’s amazing how the sound amplifies through the pillow. Just make sure your phone isn’t charging at the same time!
