I take it amongst other vits and suppliments. I feel like a new woman. Seems every cell in my body has suddenly sprung to life. Not sure it's the L-Tyrosine tho. Think it's a combination of others and medication. :-) not had any adverse reaction either.

I was told by the hospital that these cause the thyroid meds to stop working- it blocks it from absorbing cos I was taking it myself, it also gives a incorrect T4 reading in the blood but I would check for yourself to put your mind at rest- I was taking it for over a year - you have to be so careful with suppliments - kelp is another one if your on Thyroid meds, stops it absorbing. I rang the pharmacy at the hospital , I gave them a list of suppliments and amino acids I was taking , they ran a check and phoned me back- Biotin is another one to watch.

Hope this helps xxxx

THANKS FOR YOUR INFO, ITS QUITE A MINEFIELD, READ A LOT ON GOOGLE SAYING HOW GOOD IT IS ,I HAVE A FRIEND WHO TAKES IT FOR HYPO BUT SHES NOT ON MEDICATION SO MAYBE THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE, X

Yes I know, I took all kinds of amino and suppliments to improve my health- only to discover the opposit, I would hate others to suffer the way I did,

Good luck on your quest xx

Dear Gemini! I am at the decision of starting l tyrosine while i am on 25mcg l tyroxine. I am curious about your experiences - how the drugs react?

OK so I just did a quick survey of the medical info web sites. Tyrosine is thought to increase thyroid production, so not a good idea if you are hyper. It interferes with uptake of levodopa, a treatment for Parkinson's. And it can cause hypertensive episodes for those on MAOIs, which are powerful anti depressants. But people on MAOIs usually know about taking care because they interact with cheese and certain other foods.

No mention of uptake interference, or messing with results. I tried it for a week or two for brain fog. No difference, and I developed strange sharp pains so stopped. I will retry soon.
