So I've been on naturethroid for just over 2 months and I still am very tired and weak I've been at 1.5 grains for 6 weeks. I tried to raise to 2 grains two days and felt more tired so today I went back to 1.5. I was wondering if possibly l-tyrosine would help. I hear it helps support the thyroid and I was wondering if it might give me energy
L-tyrosine?: So I've been on naturethroid for... - Thyroid UK
L-tyrosine?
How is everything else? Things like b12, d3, ferritin, iron.....unless this lot are at optimal levels no amount of thyroid hormone makes you feel better.
Adrenals too.... Are they working as they should? Have you had any tests?

B12 is good ferratin is low, vitamin d kinda low that's it idk about adrenals but I don't think I have adrenal problems
If Ferritin is low it often goes hand in hand with low iron levels... Which will make you feel tired and weak. Low vit d can lead to all kinds of aches and pains........
Maybe if you address these two low levels you might start to feel better? Iron needs vitamin c to help it absorb.... And dont take it anywhere near thyroud meds....
No idea about the l tyrosene though...... Sorry.

Lindsey,
Tyrosine will actually suppress thyroid function.
Although thyroid hormones are made (by your thyroid gland) via the enzyme thyroid peroxidase which combines with the amino acid tyrosine, this is also a precursor for the neurotransmitters dopamine, adrenaline and noradrenaline.
Therefore supplementing tyrosine will increase these adrenal hormones that in turn result in physiological and psychological changes (fight or flight) that can suppress thyroid function.
Also an excess of adrenal hormones can cause anxiety, insomnia, heart palpitations and high BP.
Tyrosine has been used in the treatment of depression and mustn't be taken with other anti-depressants (similar to St Johns Wort).
Be aware that supplementing tyrosine may skew your thyroid hormone blood test results.

Why Tyrosine lower thyroid function.
Interesting reading re tyrosine (not considering thyroid medicated issues).

I was just going to use it temporarily while I work on iron issues and vitamin d and possible adrenal issues
Definitely works for me. I take it with my levothyroxine and it makes me feel normal.
I have started taking it with my levothyroxine and finds it really works - especially during the hot summer when my thyroid seems to stop working...
