hi

Does anyone take l- carnitine? I’ve just brought some to help with fitness and more energy. I take 100mg levothyroxine for Hypothyroidism and didn’t know if L-carnitine will interact with the levothyroxine?

Any advice is much appreciated.

I opted for a full spectrum amino acid supplement which supplies the building blocks for many things including L-carnitine as it just gets too complicated to try and work out what your body might need individually and in what quantity.... I take them as I don't eat a great deal of meat

Wouldn't be without them 🤗

No effect, I bimble along at 68kgs unless my fT3 drops and then I start to plump up as the mucin returns 😕

I think radd has been giving it a try (not sure if tags are working though)

Thank you Eeyore100 I will give full spectrum amino acid a try instead.

How do I know if my ft3 drops? I don’t really understand it all. I was told 3 years ago that I had an underactive thyroid. I had been feeling rotten for 6 months prior to diagnosis. I was prescribed tablets and left to get on with it. My doctor tests my tsh once or twice a year. Last blood test I had it was 0.92. I take 100mg levothyroxine.

Sounds familiar 🙄 I struggled along for years like that.... get yourself a private blood test so you can see where your actual fT3/4 levels are, you can have low TSH and still have low fT3 (the active bit) if you don't convert well which is the issue a lot of us have.

Lots of info on here about the various private options and some discounts, either finger prick or venous for the more comprehensive tests 🤗good to get one that covers vit and min levels too if your GP hasn't/ won't!

Put your results up and we'll all pitch in with advice 😉
