Could you tell us the reasoning behind this - have you had bloods done that say you are low or are you just wanting to suppliment.

Firstly I checked that I didn't have any medical reason for not taking it and then started on 200mg at night. After a week and having no adverse effects I increased to 400mg. You might find this link helpful to know if you can take it safely.

I have found magnesium supplementation a great help but some don't get on with it, which is why it is best not to start on the full 400mg; just in case.

Ok I will check with my doctor first before taking. I do have a very sensitive tummy which has caused problems when I've tried supplements before.

Could you tell us WHY you want to suppliment - have you got certain symptoms that you are hoping Magnesium will sort out?

I am asking this because I have just started having Epsom Salt baths - I have heart issues which may be down to a magnesium deficiency but until I have bloods taken (which I had yesterday) I have taken the gentle approach and am adding it to my bath.

Hi There is a specific Magnesium test, which certainly works for me, it is a tiny range, I have to take it because of my heart but because I am ( on a script) I have to have weekly tests as it can be so dangerous. It is an electrolyte, most important ones are magnesium. potassium, calcium , They must always be in range as can cause sudden death, heart or acute kidney failure, The tests are so important. It is in a lot of food which, of course is totally safe.Magnesium, of course, is best absorbed in hospital on an IV, if really low.

Best wishes,

Jackie
