About to take Magnesium Citrate...

Just got home from work and want to start taking my Magnesium tablets but i'm also hungry and thirsty.

I can't find anything on the bottle or online to say you can't eat or drink normally with or around taking them but wanted to make sure first.

I have Thorne Research Magnesium Citrate 135mg

Didn't think to look for the dose before buying them ...will 1 a day be enough or should i take more?

Hi nikki2975 , just for you to compare, I take 2 x 200mg Magnesium citrate at night. I think the average is 375mg but you have to see what your bowel will tolerate as they can make you loose. It's advised to take inbetween meals for better absorption as stomach acid is needed for absorption and after a meal stomach acid is busy with digestion. I don't know how important that is or what difference it makes as I have never heard any one say. I tend not to eat too late anyway

Hi Pastille, Should i just take the one then as it's my first time taking them or should i just start with the 2 and see how i go with it and lower if need be?

I'm also using them to make me loose as fybogel and Laxido are not working. mostly i need it for better sleep and more energy as i have none at the moment.

I need to use some pork steaks and potatoes tonight. will i be ok to take them after eating that?

As they are only 135, I personally would take 2 but that's me. Especially if you want them to make you go anyway. I'd wait a while after your meal, because taking them late isn't a problem. I am hungry now reading that!! :)

I'll start with the 2 then...thank you.

Sorry, I forgot they needed using and i don't want to waste them or put them in the freezer as i always do that and then forget about them.

How long would you say to wait? I probably won't finish eating it till about 12.30-12.45 so don't want to wait that long.

Do you think it might be best to start tomorrow night instead? I don't usually eat after work but i'm really hungry tonight :)

I'd still take them tonight, just maybe be aware that the ones you take tomorrow may work more as they may absorb better. Enjoy your meal :)

Well in that case then I would take one tonight and 2 tomorrow night. But you do what you feel it's just that you may as well start getting them in your system. It's just that they are usually taken at night you see as they aid rest and sleep and get into your system to help with bowel movements etc for the next day.

I'll take the one tonight and then the 2 tomorrow night. It's taken me long enough to get them I don't want to waste anymore time. Thank you for helping me :)

Well this is it! Whenever I get anything I want it on it's way to taking effect asap :) No worries. It is only my opinion, others may think differently. Goodnight x

Best to take one a day before bed. If that isn't enough, then one in the morning as well.

I was thinking of doing it that way but I don't have any energy as it is and im tired from when I wake up and then all through the day and don't want to be extra tired from taking them in the morning too. Although the tablets haven't done anything so far and I have been taking the two at night for the last 5 nights so I don't know what to do now. I don't feel relaxed, I don't sleep longer or without being restless at least 20 times a night and I'm still getting cramps and throbbing pains :(

The magnesium I take says 1 capsule to be taken 3 times daily with food. I can only tolerate 1 capsule a day so far (300mg).

I take nearly all my supplements with food, and with my evening meal unless directed otherwise, so that it's well away from my NDT.

Mine says one capsule between 1-3 times a day. It doesn't say if it's with or without food and is only 135mg.
