I want some advice on a single supplement of folic or folate acid to build it up. I’ve been on Ingennus super B complex as advised on here. My vitamin B12 is way above the normal now so it’s done its job now I just need a good folic or folate to top it up. Any suggestions.

Hi Suffolklady,
I use these. They are very tiny capsules. The only filler they use in these is rice flour so if you have no problems with rice it may be suitable for you.
There are so many brands to choose from it can be quite overwhelming. Hope you find something suitable.

(Edit: Yes I linked to the wrong product! I do take a Healthleads one but it is 400ug one and not the high dose one!!)
I have edited my post with the link to the correct product 🙂
Hedgeree, The link you've given leads to the high dose version (1000μg), which may be too high. Suffolklady says she's already taking a B complex which contains some L-methylfolate. So a lower dose (i.e. 400ug) would probably be safer as a 'top-up' alongside the B Complex. 😊
Thanks for pointing that out RedApple Yes I linked to the wrong product!

Hi, I'm afraid there is a misunderstanding about B12 here, assuming that you have been taking oral/sublingual. Just getting it into the blood does not mean that you are able to get it into the cells or that it can work effectively in the cells. Depending on your reason for deficiency you *may* be ok with oral, but if you are still symptomatic you cannot assume that having high serum has definitely ruled this out as an issue. (Mine was above the top of the range and injections still made a vast difference). If of course you are on injections, then blood will be high and shouldn't have been retested.
As to the folate, my personal choice would be Metabolics Methyltetrahydrofolate liquid, then you can start with a small dose and build to a moderate one if needed. Excellent quality, grain free, been using for 6 years and it works. Best wishes
Dont ever buy or take artificial Folic Acid (yes I know but thats what the GP gives you) as Folate is what you really need. Look at Pure Encapsulation methyl-L- folate. L
