Finally got my thyroid blood results on ndt🎉

Hi everyone ❤️

Well I've finally received my thyroid blood results, I started this blood work journey on Feb 6th 2025😲 after 2 doctors in my surgery failed to fill in the correct information about booking me in for these bloods, so the receptionist could book a date for me.

So I eventually get my blood date and present myself nice and early for the nurse, I ask what are we doing today , I'm told.."T4, T3, TSH" great blood taken off I go.

Go back to pick said blood results up to see only TSH was done......😡 I go to reception and try to explain I'm on combination therapy T4, T3...I need these done alongside TSH, we get into a bit of argument because she tels me the Dr as put down what your to have, and that's what's been done!!

I protest and she storms off to speak to a GP, comes back with her tail between her legs saying.." yes the doctor says you need T4, T3 done......well I'll go to the bottom of our stairs 😡

To be Honest I truthful wanted to shout.....WHO THE HELL IS IN CHARGE HERE?!!!

I'm asked to call bk in 2 days to get the bloods done again, just picked them up today 🥵

Honestly I despair how the nhs work now😡 not only do they make more work for themselves , they put such a strain on patients it's unbelievable, and the last thing most of us want is more stress and strain.

I'm appalled at the lack of information we receive about our thyroid condition, and see on here people coming on and telling us they we're never told anything about there condition, just take this T4 and go away 😡 I feel we are being slowly forgotten about [ well maby not slowly , very fast I think].. most GPS I see don't want to bother with my thyroid condition, hell they don't even want to help me😡.

So I can now see my results as of the 9th April 2025...my God how bad is that?

On ndt 1 and 1/2 grains

TSH.....0.85.....RANGE...0.30....4.50]

T4.....11.3....RANGE...11.00...22.00]

T3....5.2....RANGE...3.10...6.80] this is the best my T3 as ever been 🙌 never achieved it on synthetic T4 or T3]

Hey there again :

How long did you leave from last dose to blood draw and do you split the NDT ?

These results are looking much better - are you feeling any better now ?

I took my last split of ndt at 4.30 pm...I'm now only splitting it twice 8am 4.30pm at 1 and 1/2 grains.

I recently spoke to my parathyroid surgeon about my levels she told me T4 will be low when taking ndt so don't worry to much about that, it's your T3 you need to concentrate on👍

My T3 is looking great at 5.2...I don't think I need it any higher

As for how do I feel, when I'm not in a calcium or PTH flare up I don't feel to bad, but I also have chronic fatigue and fibro, so it's hard to know, my hair is still falling out😔 my skin is bone dry , eventho I drench it in E45 body lotion 🤷‍♀️ but I'm never cold, if anything I sweat a lot , but I'm sure that's the Primary hyperparathyroidism.

Well - I guess feeling not ' too bad ' considering all you have been, and are still going through is encouraging :

I'm only on 1 + 1/2 grains but take it all in 1 go at a toilet break at around 2/3 am and yes, at around 10 hours my T4 is much lower at around 25% through the range with my T3 proportionately much higher at around 90% through its range.

I still need to maintain optimal levels of ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D :

NDT does take time to bed in so hopefully you may well continue to see subtle improvements over the next 6 - 12 months

Great, a medic who understands T3

Hopefully you are now on the right road, you've had a terrible battle to reach here. Well done for sticking it out and showing the nay sayers that you know what you're talking about

Symptoms/ how you feel will maybe improve a bit more as the hormones settle in your system

FT3 looking good.

Absolutely agree...thyroid care with the NHS is abysmal, few understand it.

Without this forum I doubt I'd have survived after the state the NHS got me into about 20 years ago

I'm currently trying to sort out other health issues and hitting my head against a brick wall. I hardly recognise my old self and now have to see a consultant of "Elderly Medicine" Ouch!!!

Keep up the good work!

Those numbers don't look too bad @birkie. I think I might be inclined to add another 1/4 grain depending on how you feel. You still have room for a small raise. Just seen further up that you are feeling quite good. So pleased to hear that.

Not what you're looking for?
