alternative to three arrows heme iron

My blood results came back suggesting I have low ferritin. Can someone please recommend an alternative to three arrows heme iron that would be suitable for vegetarians. Many thanks.

Hi 2hope, unfortunately not since it's the very nature of the thing, it's what haem means. Animal derived iron is easiest absorbed ("bioavailable"). Said gently, as a former vegetarian myself, there can be times like this when we can reevaluate choices. Mine was when I realized I was losing my memory about three years into vegetarianism. This is of course hardest if one is vegetarian out of love for animals. I hope this comes across kindly, written words on the internet can be hard to interpret 🌷

Thanks Eazybiker for your kind response. I appreciate what you mean and it has been kindly taken. My reason for taking medication that is suitable for vegetarians is mainly because of religious reasons as I can only eat halal. However, I really appreciate your response.

A Google search finds a few hits for halal heme or haem iron. Three Arrows is specifically made from beef spleen, if I remember correctly. I can vouch for its effectiveness.

You can try epigenetics iron, it is liquid and comes with pipette so used with water, I use warm water and add lemon juice to Increase it's absorption very effectively. A 100ml bottle will lasted 4 months or just over but I can vouch for it's effectiveness. I always try use liquid drops for supplements as they're virtually excipient free (nasties I call them) and so much more bioavailable.
