My 3 Arrows Heme Iron has finally arrived! How do I dose it?

It seemed to take a long time to arrive. But it's finally here.

At my last blood test my iron was low, not deficient and not low enough for a doctor to comment. But lower than I want and I struggle to keep Ferritin half decent. I've never had good Ferritin.

So how do you take your 3 Arrows Heme Iron? How much and how regularly? Do you need vitamin C with it and do you still need 4 hours either side for thyroid meds?

I took 1 a day between lunch and early afternoon away from everything else. Did wonders for me. Just tried to reorder and website is down 🤔

I had a link to the web site that didn't work, but I got there by just googling it and following the link that produced and the site was fine.

Ignore me, it really is down right now. Try again tomorrow, they are either doing maintenance or something has expired and will need a few hours to be noticed and fixed by the site owner.

Do you take vitamin C with it?

Did it bring your Ferritin up?

Yes ferritin rocketed from 60ish to 140 in 2 months. Didn’t consciously take vit C but I do tend to have some ascorbic acid and salt in my drinking water in the afternoon at work.

Have been taking vegan biglycinate for a few months and can feel it’s dropping (fibroids). I’m going to alternate/combine and see if I can find a balance. When I got to 140 I was also over range for my thyroid meds, so a bit palpitationsy and feeling hot with loose tum. Resolved quickly with dose reductions of Levo and lio. Could have been a hashi swing too… or could have been better conversion with higher ferritin. I’m hoping I can strike a balance x

The site is back up! Looks different. Perhaps they have had a remodel.

Has that awful website actually improved? 😅

I once emailed complaining that I’d heard the product was good but unfortunately I couldn’t bring myself to place an order because the site looked almost fake

She wrote back asking for my thoughts on why I didn’t like it, so I gave her my unadulterated opinion. She mustn’t have liked it because she didn’t respond

Have just checked it out and it looks just as insane to me but it’s difficult to tell because there’s so much verbiage still!

👏👏🤣🤣 No free sample for you then! 😂

It is a horrid site... I buy 6 at a time so I don't have to revisit too often 😵

That was a bit mean 😆

I was the first developer in the UK to create an actual shop you could buy from on the Internet. Way back in the day. It was for a gorgeous chocolatier in Leamington Spa. Since then I have seen some shockingly awful sites. Sites that make it nearly impossible to buy their goods. I actually don't really know why people hate this one so much. Well I do know, it's old fashioned and amateurish, but it works and everything you need to buy and learn about the product is there.

There are worse. Less so nowadays, but still this is not the worst web experience and if the product is good I'll suffer the way it's been made.

😊😊😊Judging by your tone it’s clear you know I wasn’t intending to be mean. I got frustrated and didn’t buy the product so thought I was doing her a favour by letting her know that several of us on this forum thought it unnecessarily fussy

I’ve since bought the product and will trial it once my Thorne has run out. Have to say, Thorne in conjunction with metabolics it did a great job in raising ferritin, I went way above range!

Anyway, if she has indeed tidied it up, that will undoubtedly increase her sales

Interesting you were the first. Admirable

It isn't as fussy as other iron supplements as it is in a ready to use state, no need to take it with Vit C but you can if it suits... take with or without food, just keep it away from Levo 🤗

I only ever took 1 a day and now 2 a week but I haven't rechecked my levels 🙄

I tend to take it lunchtime or later..... can't remember if that was to avoid B Vits?

The only thing they mention is to avoid taking with calcium > 300mg

I started with 2 per day, any time of day and have gone up to 3 per day. The doseage info on the website was contradictory. I don't worry about taking near food or on empty stomach but do keep 4hrs away from levo. It raised my ferritin from 45 in April to 61 in July and then I started 3 / day (but forgot quite a lot) and ferritin raised to 86 by October. I am still taking 3 per day and will test again in December. So I'm testing every 8-10 weeks just to check I don't overdo it.

How are you testing? Privately with a finger prick or some other way?

HotelHurricaine profile image

Privately but at a clinic to do blood draw as I'm terrible with bloodbath that occurs when I finger prick!

Oh dear! I often have to prick two fingers to get enough flow for the tiny tube!

I think I over do it - they tell you to do start jumps and run up the stairs, put hands in hot water before you prick, all to get the blood flowing but last time it turned into a fountain I couldn't control!

Yikes. I just get up, drink a glass of water and go downstairs. Sort my test kit out and read the instructions (habit, I've done loads of them now) and then go and wash my hands in warm water, shake my arms about a bit, and put my hands back in the warm water until nicely warm and then do it.

Chances of me being capable of a star jump or running up the stairs in my hypo state at 08:30 am is zero. I think you are overdoing it too. The drinking not being dehydrated and also being warm is key.
