sub hyper thyroid

Hi all-Well here I am again questioning what my Endo keeps telling me. So I bumped up my levo just slightly from about 90 to 100mg for the past 6 weeks, and feel less hypo, no issues. Yesterday labs came back, TSH is more suppressed then usual, at 0.11 range is 0.27-4.20 free t4 at 1.6 range 0.8-1.7 free t3 at 2.9 range 2.0-4.8. My Endo will tell me I'm at risk for bone loss and cardiac issues. I've racked my brain trying to figure out why she thinks that, been reading medical journals too. I am almost 70, could be why. Smarter people on here then me so does anyone see "over medication" with my labs ? Value your knowledge on this ! Thanks !

was test done early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Do you always get same brand of levothyroxine

Free T4 (fT4) 1.6 pmol/L (.8 - 1.7)

Ft4 88.9% through range

Free T3 (fT3) 2.9 pmol/L (2 - 4.8)

Ft3 only  32.1% through range

Shows poor conversion rate of Ft4 to Ft3

What vitamin supplements are you taking

When were vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels last tested

Hi-My test was done at 2:30 PM so about 10 hours after I took my dose. I have been taking Tirosint for years. I like to take in whenever I wake up in the middle of the night. Weird but I think I sleep better. Vitamin levels are good, no issues.

Oh and I do take B 12, B complex, vitamin C, a good multivitamin. Did not take B vitamins 2 days before blood test due to the biotin.

My test was done at 2:30 PM so about 10 hours after I took my dose.

So TSH would be higher if test 8-9am

Ft4 is false high result as last dose should be 24 hours before test

If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test

If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal

You need to stop multivitamins and vitamin B complex 3-5 days before testing as contains biotin

Multivitamins not generally recommended either as contain iodine

Very good advice, I thank you ! Didn't think about the iodine either, makes sense. I wondered about the biotin. Some say hold for two days, some say more.

Private tests companies say 72 hours minimum for biotin

Biotin screws with a lot of tests! Great suggestion!
