Consultant/Scan outcome

Hello.

I was initially diagnosed with a single thyroid nodule 8 years ago after an awful virus, 3 years ago I asked for it to be re-checked & they said “it’s fine”. I asked for it to be re-checked a few months ago as felt it had got bigger. At the appointment I didn’t have the camera down my throat. I was referred for a scan where they said there are now 3 nodules, 2 fluid & 1 solid. When I saw the consultant he says I would need a biopsy. At the scan they said the results would be analysed & I would be advised.

I had a call from the hospital (nurse) with my scan results saying my nodules are benign & they are discharging me, it’s best not to remove them (even though I have stated that they make me feel very self conscious) and there’s no need to do biopsy.

Can they really check the nodules are benign from just a scan? I’ve heard of a few stories when people are told their scans are fine, they then push for a biopsy & it’s cancerous, (an example is Demi from Love Island).

I am planning to see a private endocrinologist at the cost of £250 per 30 minute amount!!! I can’t afford to have a private biopsy/operation but the NHS seem to have let me down.

I am already working hard on upping my awful ferritin levels & adding vitamins. The gp only tested me for one thyroid test which I know is pointless!! I will get my thyroid tested I just want to up my iron/vitamins first.

Surely people don’t grow extra nodules for no reason, something is going on, I just want these nodules gone/shrunk but am getting no where.

Any advice will be great, thank you ☺️

Get vitamin D tested if not tested recently

Test twice yearly when supplementing

Can test via NHS private testing service

vitamindtest.org.uk

Then test FULL thyroid including thyroid antibodies in 6-8 weeks after adding last vitamin supplement

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Post all about what time of day to test

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Testing options and includes money off codes for private testing

Medichecks Thyroid plus BOTH TPO and TG antibodies and vitamins

Blue Horizon Thyroid Premium Gold includes BOTH TPO and TG antibodies, cortisol and vitamins

Medichecks and BH also offer private blood draw at clinic near you, or private nurse to your own home…..for an extra fee

Only do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning.

SlowDragon thank you, I’ll get the blood tests before seeing the private endocrinologist and get a copy of my scan to show him.
