well well well I’ve been prescribed T3!

hi forum friends. I had my nhs telephone endo appointment this week. I explained how I’d taken myself from T4 monotherapy to NDT but it’s costing me about £70 per month. The endo suggested a trial of T4 and lio (75mg and 10mg) at present I’m taking 2 grains. I hope this is a reasonable alternative dose as I struggled a lot converting to NDT for many months til we got the dose right. So I’m starting yet another thyroid journey. Interestingly I gave him my bloods pre NDT and last test but I only gave the T4 and T3, he didn’t ask for the TSH 😆 was I lucky and got someone a bit switched on?

Anyone else here switched to Levo and Lio from NDT? I’d be interested in your advice/experiences please. Thank you.

T4/ T3 combo makes it easier to achieve the correct doses of both.....as you will know, on NDT the T4/T3 dose is fixed at 1grain/60mcg NDT = 38mcg T4 and 9mcg T3.

So, your dose, 2 grains = 76mcg T4 and 18mcg T3

Your endo has prescribed 75mcg T4 and 10mcg T3

( Note....it is mcg NOT mg)

It is best to add T3 slowly so suggest you start with 2.5mcg for 2 days, if ok add another 2.5mcg repeat until you reach the10mcg, give it a couple of weeks to settle then see how you feel

Wait 6 weeks then test again

You may. or may not need a dose increase after that test

Your endo sounds more open minded than many.

Good luck!

Thanks and great to hear for you too! Ideally I’d have liked NDT but this is better than nothing!! 💜

you are so lucky ! When I saw mine at the nhs he says the only way I could was to see a private doctor to get a prescription!

Apparently it has to be done under shared care for funding, according to the pharmacy at my GP…💜
