Cortisol test results

As far as I’m away my thyroid is fine (had results as part of a general health check as TSH 1.62 (mIU/L), T4 free 19.8 (pmol/L) and T3 free 4.7 (pmol/L)) but I’ve had cortisol tests come back as low.

Can you help with interpreting them and what I should do next?

Do you have the ranges for those results? Your T3 looks quite low compared to your T4

What thyroid meds are you on and for how long? if you fill in your bio, members can help better x

I’m not on any thyroid meds and have no thyroid issues diagnosed - I came across this site when looking at cortisol issues.

”Healthy” ranges are:

T3 3.1-6.8pmol/l

T4 12-22pmol/l

I’ll update by bio - thank you 😊

Oh I see, well I think your thyroid results are okay then ;)I'm no cortisol expert I'm afraid, I'm sure someone will be along to help soon

have you tested vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Are you under a lot of stress or ill health

Taking any long term medication

Last time they were checked (18months ago) ferritin, b12 and d were all fine and mid-range. My folate was low at 8.5nmol/l but have been taking methyl folate since then.

No other long term medication or illness - I go through phases of taking vitamins and make a bit more effort in winter to ward off any bugs. Healthy weight and I exercise regularly (walk, yoga, strength at the gym but nothing crazy).

I do find my job stressful/overwhelming and it’s something I’m looking to change.

Welcome, interesting results... do you find that you struggle to wake up and then things pick up?

Yep, I could easily hit the snooze button every morning! Once I’m up, especially if I make myself go straight out for a walk, I feel more awake.

It could be you'd benefit from one of those sunrise alarm clocks to help trigger your cortisol to kick in.... are you kind to your adrenals to help deal with the stress, getting enough salt and Vit C to help them? You could add in a little adrenal cortex to give them some support?

I’ve got one of those and it does make waking up more bearable!

I take Celtic sea salt or electrolytes fairly regularly as I find it helps with hydration and can start on the vitamin c again. Will look into the adrenal cortex.

Stress tends to use up our B vits, any idea where your B12 and folate levels are?

Some B Complex's contain Vit C like Igennus Super B

Also Vit D levels?😬

Not what you're looking for?
