Latest results, any suggestions

Hi all, have been slowly increasing levothyroxin since initial Hashimotos diagnosis in Jan 24

I'm not on 50and 75micrograms alternating days

My most recent results are:

TSH: 1.2 mU/l (Range 0.27 - 4.2) 23.66%

FT4: 16.7 pmol/l (Range 12 - 22) 47.00%

FT3: 4.1 pmol/l (Range 3.1 - 6.8) 27.03%

I feel improved with each increase. My results 2 months ago before my GP agreed to trial the 25mcg increase every other day were:

TSH 1.9 mIU/L (0.27 - 4.2) 41.5%

Free T4 (fT4) 17.7 pmol/L (12 - 22) 57.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 4.3 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 32.4%

My GP was worried the increase would send me out of range for TSH but it hasn't

But my T3 and T4 both seem to have dropped which is unexpected

Test was at 08:45, fasting with last meds the previous morning 24hrs before

I take my levo first thing in the morning 2 hours before food, and caffeine

I've not had any tests for vitamin levels, are people going private for these?

Should I consider negotiating an increase to 75mcg every day

Whilst I feel much improved I do still have some of the symptoms such as tiredness, pain to hands and feet, weight gain (but haven't yet got the energy to improve eating patterns or exercise)

Your TSH has reduced so thats good. Dont worry about FT4 reducing, these things happen when first medicated and titrating levo dose. Healing is not in a straight line!

Some people get lucky and their GP tests vitamin levels, but this cannot be guaranteed, in which case a private test is in order.

See link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost. thyroiduk.org/testing/priva...

There is also a new company offering walk in& mail order blood tests in London, Kent, Sussex & Surrey areas. Check to see if there is a blood test company near you. onedaytests.com/products/ul...

Only do private tests on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid postal delays.

Time for the next 25mcg dose increase. Ask for it as a trial if this helps GP agree.

With Hashi's your levels are bound to fluctuate from time to time, so don't worry about that. But, either way, you do need an increase in dose if you still have symptoms. You'd probably feel better if your results were more like 75% through the range. :)

Thanks so much both, I've decided to ask to go up to 75mcg per day as the next step. My GP is cautious but generally willing to trial as long as the TSH stays within range.

Well, pretty sure he's going to be disappointed about that! Very difficult to get the dose high enough to make you well without the TSH going under-range. And it really doesn't matter. If it drops below range it's because you don't need it anymore. I do wish these doctors would get an education. :(
