My thyroid results(help) I have calculated the range percentage

Hi,

This was my results last time I went for the thyroid tests on T3 , T4 and TSH.

I have now calculated the range and got the percentages.

Is this all normal,

TSH: 2.94 mU/l (Range 0.27 - 4.2) 67.94%

FT4: 12.5 pmol/l (Range 12 - 22) 5.00%

FT3: 4.8 pmol/l (Range 3.1 - 6.8) 45.95%

Have you managed to get the thyroglobulin antibody test done yet?

Have you started on the B complex yet? What did you buy?

How is your ferritin level now? What are you doing to improve that?

Your FT4 is very low and only just within the range but it would be difficult to get a diagnosis based on that, which is why you also need to see your thyroglobulin antibodies that might indicate an autoimmune thyroid problem.

I think I need to get them all done again at the same time. Because I have had the anti bodies done but before those results I just posted.

I brought b complex from boots and I take one a day.

I also still take my iron, one a day at 210mg.

Don't feel much better from any of it right now. Which I thought I would have by now as I have been on both now for a few months.

I feel so tried and lethargic, I also keep getting headaches and aches, my moods also at times aren't great. I have read up on hypothyroidism and these are a lot of the symptoms.

The antibodies you've had done before are the TPO antibodies. You need to get a private blood test for thyroglobulin (TGab) antibodies which the NHS doesn't do.

Try taking the iron with ornage juice as it absorbs better with that.

The Boots B complex has a less active form of B vitamins in a fairly low dose. The ones we recommend here have methyl or active vitamins which are often more effective, also in higher doses. Raising ferritin can be very slow unfortunately.

The test I had for the antibodies were called Thyroid peroxidase

antibody? Was that not correct.

Like link you sent for the randox tests, does that have the full lot I need ?

Thank you. I did buy the b complex from igennus, but I was told buy the pharmacy they were too high. Would they be okay to take for a while ?

Yes Thyroid Peroxidase test is correct but you need a different one as well. Thyroglobulin antibodies.

The pharmacy are probably not trained in nutrition and don't understand about the absorption issues hypo people have. We do need higher than average amounts of vitamins to compensate.

The Igennus B complex is fine but be sure to take the full dose of 2 a day. You will need them long term.

The Randox test is just thyroid TSH, FT4 & FT3 + 2 types of antibodies.

If you want vitamins done on top of that then likely the Medichecks test would fit the bill better.

Okay well at the moment I can actually afford the Randox one, I was wondering with the results from that am I aloud to take those results to my doctors? Like if I need a prescription?

GP's/Endo's will not accept blood results from private tests. You can take them to your GP to show that you might have an issue and they usually want to repeat them in NHS labs. The only exception to this sometimes is Monitor My Health which is an NHS lab with a 'private wing'.

I see, well I have mentioned to get an appointment again at my doctors for more tests on my thyroid, if they time doesn't work out then I think do it myself might be an option. I just done know what I will do with the results if I do this or even get prescribed anything if needed. I suppose I will have to wait see how the appointment goes and then take it from there.

I didn't realise the boots b complex would be low actually.

I did by the igennus ones off the Internet and I was told by a pharmacy that was way to high.

I can see Randox just has the thyroid tests for now? Would that one be okay as that is affordable for me. The other ones are just to much right now.

I think it sounds to good to be true on that price.

I have ran my doctors again today and they are popping some blood tests through for me. I have asked for the TSH T3 T4 and she can only do one antibodies test as apparently the TG one she would only offer to thyroid cancer patients.

These blood tests are in about 3 weeks. I have booked the morning at 8.50am.

I am on iron tablets, b complex, bio kult tablets, glucosamine and vitamin d.

How long do I need to be off these for before the test? Or can I stay on some of them.

After the tests the doctors do this time, I am hoping the ones they do are good enough for a reading, if not that do you think medichecks for £77 do it yourself is a good option?
