Hello, about to start on Thybon + levo having no benefits from levo alone or armour thyroid. Wondering about weight gain/loss and side effects of Thybon?

Viv2024, Thybon is T3, and in theory, there shouldn't be any 'side effects' of thyroid hormones if you are taking the dose that's appropriate for you. (Although side effects can occur due to being unable to tolerate excipients). Things like weight gain/loss can be the result of being on the wrong dose, of the ratio of T4-T3 being inappropriate for you, or even being on the right dose following prolonged period of inappropriate medication.

If you say what dose of T3 and T4 you're prescribed, and what your most recent thyroid test numbers were before starting this combo, members may be better able to help.

Often doctors dont get our thyroid levels to optimal causing ongoing symptoms. Also there can be probems with conversion of T4 to T3 and low vitamin levels caused by gut issues from being hypo.

We need optimal levels of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3 for our thyroid hormone to work well.

Have you recently or could you ask your GP to test levels of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3? Private tests are available.

Thybon Henning is usually well tolerated and 'side effects' only caused with too little or too much of it or starting on too higher dose.

Recommended to start with 5mcgs, wait a few weeks to assess how you feel before adding a further 5mcgs. Test in 6-8 weeks following the recommended protocol.

Recommended blood test protocol: Test at 9am (or as close as possible), fasting, last levo dose 24hrs before the blood draw, last T3 dose 8-12 hours before blood draw & no biotin containing supplements for 3-7 days (Biotin can interfere with thyroid blood results as it is used in the testing process).

Testing like this gives consistency in your results and will show stable blood levels of hormone and highest TSH which varies throughout the day. Taking Levo/T3 just prior to blood draw can show a falsely elevated result and your GP/Endo might change your dose incorrectly as a result.

Do you have a copy of your latest blood results that you can share with us? You are legally entitled to a printed copy of your results, ask at GP reception. In England you can get the NHS app and ask for permission to see your blood results on that by asking at GP’s reception.

It's ideal if you can always get the same brand of levo at every prescription. You can do this by getting GP to write the brand you prefer in the first line of the prescription. Many people find that different brands are not interchangeable.

Always take Levo on an empty stomach an hour away from food or caffeine containing drinks & other meds. Many people find taking it at bedtime works well for them.

Hi Viv, I am now in Thybon Henning only having tired Levo only, Levo and Lio combined followed by Armour.

I started Thybon in early May on half a tablet am and pm . I increased my dose very gradually letting each additional dose settle and am now on three and a half total daily.

My side effects were initially increased anxiety, palpitations and hunger. I have lost a little weight. These symptoms generally only lasted a few days. I also noted Increased symptoms when I had a bug this week. I think I may have reached or be close to my optimum dose now and have been told by my Endocrinologist that it could be another 6 months before I feel the full benefits. I don’t know if this is what others have experienced?

I hope Thybon works for you and good luck on your journey.

I’m on Aristo/Vencamil T4 and Thybon T3 I am on just about the right dose for me, it’s been a long road.

I have just about enough energy for work and the odd workout a few times a week alternating with yoga at home now, I am super disciplined with diet (although sneak the odd bag of crisps or bar of chocolate).

by introducing weights and reducing cardio I have changed shape recently, I haven’t weighed myself for months but am comfortably in size 10 clothes again.

Hope that helps, 🌱

Ps that’s taken years to work up to and is a fragile position that can reverse very quickly 🫣🤣
