Would anyone have any thoughts: since I have had my Thyroid removed 1 year ago and am taking Levothyroxine, it seems my blood pressure is creeping up. Would this be an indicator of incorrect dosages, or type of hormone replacement. Getting to see an endocrinologist is difficult since I am having no symptoms. Blood results seem to be OK as per last test in May. I am taking 100mg Levo and weigh 88kg - Last health test suggested healthy heart.

FT3 - 1.5

Traditionally people take Levo first thing in the morning or last thing at night which can help absorption. Wat an hour before eating or drinking anything other than water.
What time of day was this test? Did you allow 24hrs between last Levo dose & test?
Your conversion is very poor and you might benefit from getting a small amount of T3 added to your Levo. You can email info@thyroiduk.org for a list of T3 friendly Endo's.
Your ferritin is very high but its possible your serum iron is low. Getting a full iron panel would rule that out.
Vitamin D should be around 100 - 150. Buy one that includes vit K2 to help it go to your bones. Some are available in oil or you can take it with an oily meal for better absorption. Many members like the ‘Better You’ range of mouth sprays that contain both bit D & K2. Use this calculator to work out how much to take to get your level to 100-150.grassrootshealth.net/projec...
Folate is too low. Suggest you buy a good methyl/active type B complex to keep all B vits in balance.
B complex suggestions: Slightly cheaper options with inactive B6:
As far as blood pressure goes getting your thyroid results and vitamins to optimal would be the best chance you have of helping blood pressure. There are so many factors that could affect BP including just ageing.
Everything I and others wrote to you then - still applies now -
Do you know how to find your previous posts and all your replies -
Just press on your Profile which is on this screen - top right facing me on my laptop - alongside My Hub-Chat-Post and Alert and Menu icons -
We do need the ranges on these new blood test results -
though can see immediately there are some results here that need attention and probably why you are here again as having symptoms but getting nowhere fast trying to resolve them and that's ok too -
What thyroid hormone replacement and dose are you now taking and are you on any other medications, supplements ?
Hi there - thanks for the instructions - I was not sure.
I am taking 100ug of Levothyroxine and 5mg Crestor (Statins) for slightly elevated cholesterol daily. I take the Levo in the evening - two hours after food and the Crestor in the morning. (Cholesterol est results below if that helps)
Well these cholesterol levels all look good - but there are guidelines suggesting that hypothyroidism needs to be optimally medicated before introducing statins :
So - do you have any current thyroid hormone T3 and T4 blood tests and ranges to share with forum members - so we can try and help you better understand where you are in your recovery - and as to if and why you needed statins in the first place ?
Just seen the screen shot - ok -
How are you feeling - apart from the cholesterol issue ?
Your T4 is at around 93% through its range with your T3 at just 11% through its range.
We generally feel best when on T4 only medication when we come in the top quadrant of its range at around 80% with the T3 tracking just behind at around 60/70% through its range.
and yes, I would imagine this disparity between your T3 and T4 levels could cause blood pressure issues :
You have ' lost ' your own natural supply of T3 and T4 - and with only T4 Levothyroxine being replaced this can put undue pressure on your body and you may well feel less pressure if your medication was adjusted to reflect both T3 and T4 thyroid hormones -
A fully functioning working thyroid would be supporting you on a daily basis with trace elements of T1. T2 and calcitonin + a measure of T3 at around 10 mcg + a measure of T4 at around 100 mcg - with T3 said to be around 4 times more powerful than T4.
I now aim ( as a woman ) for ferritin at around 100 - folate 20 - active B12 125 ( serum B12 500 ++ ) and vitamin D around 125.
My elevated cholesterol levels were diagnosed in 2019 and I started Statins then, since I have been on Statins it has brought the numbers back to normal levels.
I had Thyroid nodules identified in 2017 and had various ultrasounds and FNC's over the years. The nodules were always benign and the blood tests within the normal range so I did not have any medication. In 2023 April the Nodules suddenly grew rather large (Very visible in my neck) and the Endocrinologist then recommended full removal - as all Nodules had grown. Then I started the Levothyroxine.
I do go through periods of absolute exhaustion - generally after lunch - and not every day, and sometimes have some very weird anxiety thing going on, but also not often or regularly., and can wake up "vibrating" but not visibly.
I was checking my past results and prior to my thyroid removal FT3 was always much higher (around 80% of the range), now it seems to be much lower in the range.
The blood tests I sent above were done in May. Perhaps I should get a new set of tests including Iron Panel tests as suggested by Jaydee1507 and then go from there.
I am new in the UK so do not have any endocrinologist here to see once I get my results. So I will take a look on the suggested website to find one.
OK then - so do you need to register with an NHS doctor etc or need to go Privately ?
Thyroid UK - the charity who supports this forum have a list of recommended NHS / Private endos and thyroid specialists throughout the UK - many offer a video consult so distance need not be an issue : contact admin @ thyroiduk.org
We can't openly talk about any medical professional on this part of the forum but there is a facility for 1 to 1 Private Messages - under the Chat ( looks like a paper plane ) icon.
So you could start a new post on this part of the forum asking for recommendations - with replies needing to be by PMs only -
so the post will get ' closed ' to ' open forum replies ' but the question left up on the open forum so forum members can respond by Private Messages and your Chat icon should light up if anyone contacts you.
