I’m new to this site and one nurse said i have overactive thyroid but only looking at my low tsh. An Md said my thyroid are fine and i might have stress issues
Is there a thyroid issue that’s causing me to lie awake Al nite?
The nurse was wrong—you don’t have an overactive thyroid. The MD was right to say that according to the labs you don’t have an obvious thyroid issue (your FT4 and FT3 results are in range).
It’s early morning here in Florida. I slept the usual 4.07 hours last night and am exhausted
But I don’t want to sleep 😴 later because I enjoy the cooler mornings in Fla in July.
I don’t know 🤷♀️ what I could take for my low T4. I presently don’t take and hormones. Just vitamins minerals enzymes and amino acids
As you may have read, i have has bad results with the two different practitioners i have been to so i don’t think 🤔 i want to try another one. Do you think I should try to take some hormones? Thanks so for your advice and I appreciate you
Your signs and symptoms are more important than the blood tests. A quick skim of one of your previous posts suggests you are hypothyroid. With your average fT3 and low normal fT4 I would expect your TSH to be in the upper part of its reference interval. There can be many reasons for this including a damaged pituitary, especially if you have had a head or whiplash type injury. Being on a strict diet or being depressed can also lower TSH. Some medications also affect TSH.
Ty for your support. I really need help mostly for my insomnia and extreme fatigue but I am sad 😔 most days and stressed because of family issues. My husband has stage 4 cancer all over his body and my lifestyle is not doing anything or going anywhere like we used to. I don’t have the strength to go places alone because of my extreme fatigue and weakness
I don’t mean to be complaining but it’s the fact I don’t feel well. Ty so much for your thoughts and support
I am so sorry you're in a dreadful place. This could well explain your low TSH with such stress. It's very difficult to interpret thyroid blood tests when there is illness or severe stress. Over in the UK there are support groups for people with cancer and their carers. If you have such groups you could approach them for help if you haven't already. People who have been through the same situation are best placed to help. As regards insomnia and extreme fatigue I think some regular exercise, whatever you can do, is the best treatment. I hope I'm not stating the obvious, I just can't think of any better advice.
