Can anyone help me . I have ordered the above test, however BH now only do a thyroid gene test panel which has cost me over £200 . I refused consult which would have cost more again. Now I am wondering if I will be able to understand the result?
Would anyone be able to help me when I get them sent back to me?
They will be of no value if I can’t interpret them. 😑 they take a month so not yet . Thanks In advance

No , correct. I spoke to BH yesterday to order from Thyroid UK info . They told me they no longer use Regenerus.
He reeled off a long panel of genes they test including D102 , how much it will benefit me I don’t know. ? ! Just the cost , seems another way to charge more. I guess Thyroid UK need to update the link to them.
HI I'M DOUBLE POSITIVE FOR THE D102 I AM HOMOZYGOUS VARIANT GENOTYPE AA.
IF YOU ARE AA THEN YOU ARE POSITIVE FOR BOTH GENES BEING FAULTY,IF ARE AT OR TA THEN ONE GENE IS FAULTY AND IF YOU ARE TT THEN YOU ARE UNLIKELY TO HAVE THE FAULTY GENE.HOPE THIS IS OF SOME HELP WHEN YOU GET YOUR RESULTS BACK.
I had the BH thyroid genetic test done a few months ago, it did confirm a defective DIO2 gene which "is responsible for the local conversion of T4 to T3 in the thyroid, placenta and brain"....plus obviously more info than that.
I had already been correctly advised here that my conversion was poor - but that can only be identified from blood tests before T3 is taken.
I self-medicate because my GP is not allowed to test for, or prescribe, T3. The whole issue is complete madness!
I had the genetic test done as back-up to provide me with written proof should I ever have to argue my case for a T3 prescription. Not much hope however, but things may change
It also includes a DIO1 gene test that is responsible for the "clearance of rT3" and for aiding T4/T3 conversion in the liver and kidneys
It's a costly way to confirm a conversion problem and to be perfectly honest I'm not sure the other tests change anything else for me - the effects of those (e.g. cortisol, inflammation markers etc) can be checked in regular (i.e. non-genetic) blood tests.
The best way to learn more is to use reliable research sources via your seach engine......or to ask for advice here on TUK. There are people here much better informed about genetics than I and if you ask for help I'm sure someone will reply
I don't think the BH results are particularly well, or fully explained and I found that doing some background reading was important.....that may be my fault not theirs!
I don't regret having done the test but the cost/advice balance is, I would contend, questionable.
Good luck, will be interested to hear your opinion.
