Hello all,
I've been posting on this board for the last week or so fairly regularly to get some support/help from the all of you great people here...for this i am eternally grateful as i self medicate and really have no Dr to turn to. I'm at a point where i need to make a decision now and seeking some guidance.
I think i had a hashimoto flare up probably about 2 weeks ago and have been suffering from some quite unpleasant mental issues (restlessness, depression, anxiety) since. I'm not sure why the flare up happened but i have some things going on in life which may have added stress (our pet cat died last week, my wife is very close to giving birth, and in-laws are staying at mine for a while). I also admit to not looking after my self over the last year in terms of not being strict with my Vitamins
I took a blood test (medicheck) last week and the result came back showing very low Vitamin D and elevated FT3 levels (above medicheck range). I've upped my Vitamin D and one of the suggested from here was to stop my NDT for a while (i was taking 2 grains of Thyroid-S NDT) to relive myself from potentially having too much T3 in my body.
I've now been off my NDT for 5 days and the symptoms have almost all gone (feel a bit jittery upon waking but it goes by the time I've brushed my teeth and taken my Vitamins). This is where I'm not sure what to do next.
Do i wait until my hypo symptoms start to reappear before restarting my NDT?
Do i start them once my hyper symptoms have fully disappeared?
How do I restart my dose (straight back onto 2 grains or slowly build up)?
Is there anything i can do at all to try and prevent these flare ups (this has possibly been the worst 2 weeks of my life, and i really would do whatever it takes to limit these)
If anyone has some advice I'd be happy to listen to it, however small.
Once again, thank you to everyone who advised or just posted a message of support to my previous messages...when i was feeling very unwell this helped me out more then you can imagine. This is a great group, and for many of us it one of the few places we can turn to for help so i have nothing but admiration for what the contributors do here
