I test my thyroid with Lab Corp every 3-4 months. My T3 is over the range and I need to reduce the amount of cytomel. Im in the US and get Grossman cynomel. (cynomel is same as cytomel)
I do the testing exactly as this forum recommends.
Here are the results:
Triiodothyronine (free T3), 5.5 (range is 2.0-4.4 / pg/mL)
Thyroxine (free T4) 1.34 (range is .82 to 1.77)
TSH 0.005 (range is 450-4.500 uIU/mL
For the last 3 years, my TSH has been the same. It is suppressed. BUT T3 is too high.
I take 100 mcg of Synthroid and 25 mcg of cytomel.
2 days ago I changed my cytomel to 17 mcg. (the pill is a 25 mcg).
How long should I stay at this level before I reduce the cytomel to 12.5 mcg?
I do not have any symptoms of overactive thyroid at all. But I am getting headaches now. My PC said headaches could be from thyroid issues. Thanks for your input.

thank you for your reply. I have tested vitamin D folate ferritin and B12 three months ago and they were all within normal range.
I don’t take magnesium because I’m on a blood thinner /Eliquis. I take a vitamin C, and every other day take an iron supplement.
interesting I don’t have any symptoms of hyperactivity. I don’t split my dose. I take my Synthroid at 1 AM and my cytomel at 3 AM then I get out of bed at 6 AM.
I can also feel when my t3 is too high and I get the jitters badly. I take 62mcg Synthroid and usually 30mcg of porcine. I just cut my porcine in half for a few days and I feel good. Will take the 30 every 3 days and then back to half for a few days. You can usually feel when it is too high.
