Hello. I am normally to be found on the PA forum but, as we all know, one autoimmune disease can often be followed by another. For that reason I have taken the advice of my fellows there and had my thyroid tested. Got the results today. They all seem within range but that doesn’t mean optimal of course Any comments would be most welcome!
T3 5.47 pmol/l 3.10 – 6.80
T4 free 15.00 pmol/l 10.80 – 22.00
TSH 2.100 m/ml 0.270 – 4.200
TG 13.50 ng/ml 1.40 – 78.00

Hi. How do you feel? that is most important.Your bloods look normal to me but more experienced members may comment. If you are generally ok then you have a bench mark for if anything ever happens to your thyroid.
Feeling cold was my main symptom that is exclusive.
Fatigue and putting on weight from inflamation were other issues
I do not know what TG is. If TGA for celiac then many on here do not show gluten issues on this test but are much better without gluten. I am one of them.
Thanks for your comments Sleepman. Actually I feel fine - don’t have any symptoms that I am aware of. I have of course certain pernicious anaemia symptoms that I have been struggling with for years. But they are mostly under control due to my daily B12 injections. Don’t feel cold, not putting on weight and no particular fatigue.
I believe TG is an indicator/marker of autoimmune conditions , but i must admit I know nothing about this. Possibly others here can answer your question.
Actually you may be right: it may be TGAb. I had this test done in Moscow so was translating into English as best as I knew how. I assumed the reference range - 1.40 - 78.00 - would make it clear exactly which test it was.
Thanks for that SlowDragon. Test was done about 09.45. Will try to find out about TPO test - it wasn’t included in the thyroid tests that I was offered. Forgive my ignorance but I assume high TSH is a good thing:)?
Had these other vitamin tests done a few months ago and all were within range. Ferritin at the top of the range as I recall.
When having B12 injections it’s recommended also to supplement a good quality daily vitamin B complex, and one with folate in (not folic acid) may be most beneficial.
This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and may help improve B12 levels between injections too
Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule) Thorne can be difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg)

many thanks SlowDragon. Lots to think about there…
I have been taking a daily vitamin D tablet (2000 iu) for about a year. Also a daily folic acid tablet (1000mcg). Yes, I inject B12 daily - any less frequently and the symptoms return! In addition I have been taking a B complex for about 6 months now - found it in Holland and Barret - though the actual amount of each B vitamin given seems miniscule. Of course this last test was done in December so perhaps there was some winter effect. Following your remarks I will arrange another vitamin test next week and will take it from there.
