Hi, I would think this just means that you really needed the B12. I am having injections and they make me very tired, but the first one sent me to sleep within a couple of hours for 4 hours straight. You'll have a lot of repair and healing to do and that takes energy, patience and co-factors. Is this your first attempt at supplementing B12? If so, it looks like you can metabolise, which is good news, although that may change in the future as it gets harder with age (or with progressing autoimmunity).
It could possibly be a reaction to something in the supplement but these are good quality clean supplements (I've used them for a few years, as well as the hydroxo one) so this seems less likely.
In the past I have had energy drips which had Vitamin B12 but this is the first time I had Vitamin B12 supplements.
I do feel sleepy (like I want to close my eyes) most of the time, but after this it really pushed me to sleep. I did feel slightly better after that though.
Anyway I will take it for a week and see how things are.
As long as you don't feel ill and are waking reasonably refreshed and functional then I wouldn't worry. If you are dropping asleep at the wheel I would see your doctor, explain that you are getting a positive reaction to B12 supplements but are symptomatic in a way that is not safe and see if they will give you a trial of injections instead. It could be that you are using iron, folate (folic), potassium, vit D faster than your body can tolerate or the thyroid symptoms may be being exacerbated. Often treating one thing will reveal another. You could ask for or get your own testing for all of those. It takes about 3 months to recycle and replace your red blood cells, so you may be tired for a while.
