I just talked to my Doctor and he is putting me on 50,000 1 tablet a week vitamin D and has put me in for Iron infusion.
I was surprised he said that I was iron deficient (not Anemic) but this is going in the wrong direction and is getting out of control and I need my iron to be closer to 100 (shocked)…..
What should I expect on this infusion??
With this Vitamin D 50,000 should I still take the K2 ??

I concluded one thing then switched to a final decision.
I have read (including on this board) to take 100 mcgs of K a day.
I then read somewhere else (of course can’t remember where) something that said take 100 mcgs of K for every 1000 ius of D.
I also read that there is relatively little research on K… but that they are fairly certain you can’t take too much (within reason of course), but there as nothing that quantified what “too much” would be.
Now - caveat - I took mine 7500 ius a day ( not all at once, once a week.) when I did I started with 400 mcgs K just to strike a middle ground. I then decided for no real reason that 100 mcgs a day was enough. I’m at a maintenance dose of 2500 ius of D and I take 100 K. Remember we do get some K in our diets as well. By the way, mk-7 is the usual recommendation here as it’s longer lasting than the other.
“A therapeutic dose is suggested to be between 180-200 mcg MK7 (a form of vitamin K2) per day from diet and supplements. Even smaller amounts of MK7 were found to be helpful.”
I don’t know anything about taking D once a week. But the linked article is likely one of the clearer things you’ll find on it.
I’m not sure what I would do if taking once a week…
I am making the distinction between vitamin K2 in the form of MK-7 versus the other commonly available form of vitamin K2 in the form of MK-4.
I just googled it but couldn’t find anything that said “activated”. But it clarifies that K2 is also known as menaquinone (hence the MK). And although there aren’t many studies comparing the two, mk-7 absolutely has a longer half-life so you don’t have to dose as frequently.
Also - I just came across this AWESOME article on K! So worth a scan!
It covers all the things I’ve learned about it in this forum and more. Incidentally it has a note deep down that says 320 mcgs is an optimal dose. As I first noted, whether 100 or a few hundred it does seem a bit arbitrary. So I will still take 100 a day, and then probably wake up one day and decide to take 200 a day… then I’ll probably change my mind again!
