How much are you taking of what?

When did you take your last dose of Levo & T3 before this test? Recommended timing is 24hrs for Levo & 8-12hrs for T3, otherwise results can show a false high or low.

Your FT3 is a little on the high said. Most people on combi therapy do well with their FT3 & FT4 balancing at around 70% of range. If you're taking T3 then you could think about dropping 5mcgs a day.

Your ferritin is too low. Have you had an iron panel done?

NICE guidelines state that a ferritin of 30 or less is deficient and GP should prescribe iron tablets.

Ferritin should be around 90 - 100 for best use of thyroid hormone. Suggest increasing iron rich foods in diet and eating them often. Chicken livers, pate, red meat etc

What supplements are you taking?

What are your other vitamin results?

Hi. i have had a full iron panel test as you suggested. but the gp has not commented on it, I have purchased Three Arrows as suggested on the site, and am now taking Vit C, but i have not had another test done yet.

Thank you for your reply, I am taking 125/100 alternate days of Thyroxin and 15 of T3 10 in morning and 5 at night. I have recently started taking Three Arrows and vit c as suggested, after having iron panel test done. but have not had another test done since March. Gp has not commented on it

Levo and T3 taken as the forums protocol

Thanks

The Levo dose is about right but will be intersting to see if it changes once you drop 5mcgs T3.

Ferritin can take many months to raise unfortunately. Perhaps retest it in 3-4 months.

Are you also taking a B complex?

Ferritin is deficient

as per previous posts you need full iron panel test for anaemia

cks.nice.org.uk/topics/anae...

Serum ferritin level is the biochemical test, which most reliably correlates with relative total body iron stores. In all people, a serum ferritin level of less than 30 micrograms/L confirms the diagnosis of iron deficiency.

Never supplement iron without doing full iron panel test for anaemia first and retest 3-4 times a year if self supplementing.

It’s possible to have low ferritin but high iron

Test early morning, only water to drink between waking and test. Avoid high iron rich dinner night before test

Stop iron supplements 5-7 days before testing

Medichecks iron panel test

Look at increasing iron rich foods in diet

Eating iron rich foods like liver or liver pate once a week plus other red meat, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate, plus daily orange juice or other vitamin C rich drink can help improve iron absorption

This is interesting because I have noticed that many patients with Hashimoto’s disease and hypothyroidism, start to feel worse when their ferritin drops below 80 and usually there is hair loss when it drops below 50.
