Morning and thank you for allowing me to join the group 🙂
I am here because my doctor has told me my bloods are normal but I’m feeling unwell.
I have been taking levothyroxine for about 8 years and never had a problem, I used to take my pill and forget about it. But recently I’ve become tired and my hair is starting to thin so I went for a blood test to check it’s not my thyroid but the doctor says my results are fine. I wanted to check that please if it’s ok before i look at other things like anaemia. My tsh is below range here which I understand can either be a problem for some or not if you’re on meds and feeling well. I’m not feeling well so maybe it’s that?
My results are here:
TSH. 0.19 (0.27 - 4.2)
FREE T3 5 (3.1 - 6.8 )
FREE T4 19 (12 - 22)
Thanks in advance

What time of day was your blood test? TSH varies throughout the day and highest TSH is at 9am or earlier.
Free T3 (fT3) 5 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 51.4%
FT4 could afford to be a little higher so no doubt there is room for a small increase. Your GP may be reluctant though due to your TSH.
Importantly have you had your vitamin levels checked and do you supplement anything?
When hypo we get low stomach acid which means we cannot absorb vitamins well from our food, regardless of a great diet. For thyroid hormone to work well we need OPTIMAL levels of vitamins.
Have you recently or could you ask your GP to test levels of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3? Private tests are available, see link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost. thyroiduk.org/testing/priva...
There is also a new company offering walk in& mail order blood tests in London, Kent, Sussex & Surrey areas. Check to see if there is a blood test company near you. onedaytests.com/products/ul...
Only do private tests on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid postal delays.
I had my test at 7:30 am without any food or drink. I don’t supplement and I haven’t had my vitamins tested, that’s my next step if nothing was obvious on my thyroid one, I’ll get that done this week, thank you.
Just wish I knew why I’m tired all of a sudden and my hair is so fine and thin.
All of my blood test results have showed my free t3 to be 5. I’ve always been skinny and energetic so you saying that leads me to believe it’s definitely not my thyroid which is a relief ! 😃
