What are these bumps?

WitchingHour2point0 profile image

Can anyone identify these bumps for me? They are predominantly on the back of my scalp, behind my ears, and along my jaw line. A few are now appearing in my arms.

They are itchy as heck. It's driving me to despair! My neck is now red raw where I'm itching.

I had initially thought they might be bites of some kind but I've barely left the house in a few days and noone else in my house hold has them and I keep just getting more. 😭

I have been gluten free for a year but fell off the wagon for a few days last week when I went to France and wondering if it's connected to that. 🤔

It could, of course, just be insect bites of some sort but I'd expect the family to be effected by that too.

Grateful for some ideas!🙏🏻

For most skin related issues, I suggest having a look at this website:

dermnetnz.org/

Thousands of photographs and lots of text - all well organised. Though might still take some time! And, of course, you might need real world diagnosis and treatment!

Yes, I will go to the GP if need be, but I seem to have become allergic to them since the start of my hypo journey. 🫣

Thanks Hellvella, will browse through with my brew now.

Hate to say it but isn't France the land of bed bugs 😱

Ha! Possibly but I got home a week ago, wasn't itchy there and I am still waking with more spots. 😭

Have to say I agree with TiggerMe. Seems to be going for the warm spots, crevices, which is typical. I'd check with a pharmacist.

I'm confident it's not bedbugs. I was staying at my Dad's house, if it were bedbugs he would be affected too, I'd assume.

And I came home a week ago; I wouldn't surely keep waking with more bumps now? Or if I somehow brought them back my husband would be affected by it by now too.

Yes you would. I had them years ago. Horrible. You can pick them up anywhere tbh off a seat for example. Doesn't have to be a bed. Ask the pharmacist. I find them better than GPs tbh. And they see you rather than thr nonsense of diagnosis via phone!

I would suggest a histamine rise (similar to hives) due to being suddenly gluten'd up in France!

If this it is this and you eat g/f they should go. You could help speed up the process by avoiding high histamine foods and taking an antihistamine pill, or I like Vit C and quercetin supplements to help degrade histamine.

Thanks, Radd.

Looking at pictures on Google my bumps look very similar. I'll pop to the shop in a bit for antihistamines.

Bumps are fine until something touches them, so every time my hair or clothing knock them it's unbearable itching for a minute. 😩

I'll pick up some vit c too. 🫶🏼

I got hives like this in France once, tiny ones, came up after a run in beautiful woodland followed by a beer (those were the days!) pre diagnosis of course. I decided I was allergic to my own sweat 😥

Other idea could it be molluscum, kids all had it at school, goes away again by itself 🤨

I agree…. I think it is Molluscum contagiosum
