Are these hypo symptoms

Hi

After my itching problems last week and after speaking to my GP who said I could come off the Levo to see if it helped I started feeling really yucky, particularly bad on Sunday, felt weak, fatigued, breathles. My legs feel a bit rubbery like they're going to give way.

I just don't have my usual get up and go and I've never really felt like this before. Even when my fibromyalgia was at its worst I never felt so useless. Just don't feel up to doing much. My sleep is OK, actually pretty good for me. The itching has subsided somewhat and due to how rubbish I feel I started back on the Levo yesterday. I've not taken an antihistamine today, in case that was making me feel bad.

My question is could just a few days off of the Levo made me feel like this. Was off it only for about 6 days. Starting to worry that something else is going on. I've found that once you have something like hypo,or fibro everything gets blamed on that.

Withdrawing levothyroxine can make you extremely unwell

Taking levothyroxine has reduced your TSH, so your own thyroid output has reduced

TSH is slow to respond to sudden withdrawal of thyroid hormones

Beware of doctors advising you to stop taking thyroid hormones. I think he/she doesn't understand what's going on in our body.

What are you prescribed for fibromyalgia?

This is a link that may be informative and the doctor who wrote it died due to an accident. He was also an Adviser to Thyroiduk.org.uk

What brand of levothyroxine are you taking? A lot of people, me included, do not get on with Teva.

Hi

I always get Accord, I've had issues with Northstar and Mercury.

Note that 50 and 100 microgram Nortstar are Accord product.

(Their 25 microgram tablets are Teva product.)

Himitsxwird but Northstar, which I started on gave me terrible IBS flare ups, gas, bloating etc. But I can tolerate Accord. Go figure 😃

In which case I sincerely hope you have put in Yellow Card reports as one or the other appears defective. Or both!

Hello I too had terrible itching when I started on levothyroxine following my thyroidectomy.

I tried many different brands of levothyroxine and the itching finally stopped when I changed to the Aristo brand which I believe is lactose free.

Perhaps you could try that one and see if it helps you x

HiI think you might have adrenal fatigue - the rubbery legs sensation is an adrenal symptom. I remember it well.

Adrenal dysfunction and hypothyroid often go together especially if you’ve had a lot of stress in your life or if you’ve not been adequately treated for your thyroid the adrenals kick in to compensate.

Hope you can get some relief.
