What causes these spots?

They’re like little blood blisters, tiny, maybe only 1-2mm at most.

I have quite a few at points on my torso, one or two other places.

I first got some when I was pregnant and was told it’s to do with the high volume of blood then but that was 9 years ago and I still get them.

They last for ages but I guess they must go away otherwise I’d have an awful lot more than I do.

Curious 🤔

Hi Murphysmum , I get those too! Never thought much about them, they come and go but don’t bother me. Sorry I can’t help otherwise, but would love to know if you find out more. 👍🏻

I'm not a doctor, so don't take this as conclusive, but it looks like a cherry angioma to me :

healthline.com/health/cherr...

I found out about them because a family member has loads of them, and the number is slowly increasing with age.

As Humanbean says, could be cherry angioma, I have quite a few. Mine are small and flat and no bother.

All of a sudden, I have these too. Hundreds of them though. They are cherry angiomas, Apparently harmeless.

Hi I woke up with 4 of these on my chest the other day and I'm freaking out. I had 2 of them 6 years ago but nothing more until now. So you say you woke up with hundreds of them? Did you see a doctor?

Also called Campbell de Morgan spots. I have them on my torso and have had them for around 8 years or so though they seem to be fading a bit.

Go searching for petechiae. :-)

There is little solid evidence but they are mentioned quite commonly in relation to hypothyroidism.

I looked these up on Dr Google when I was on T3-only,as I seemed to be getting a lot more.I thought they were called Petechiae.

My mother also had a lot & she stayed healthy til 92 & died peacefully in her sleep.

I am convinced they are a connected to hypothyroidism.

i have had them since the age of 14 and they are petechiae. Appear to be harmless. They are much more preferable to the sticky spots from rubbish T4.

I'd go with Cherry angiomas, aka Campbell De Morgan spots or Senile angiomas as they are often aged-related (30 +). Generally they are raised and red, hence the "cherry" appellation; whereas petechiae often look like a rash that can be purple, red, or brown. A previous Endo saw mine and had me tested for Fabrys disease just in case, but concluded mine were definitely cherry angiomas and therefore nothing to be concerned about.

I'm going with harmless cherry angiomas as well. I have them on my abdomen & have had them for years.

They can be caused by toxins such as bromide and fluoride (see attached link). It is the body’s way of trying to get rid of the toxins. Iodine is said to help get rid of the toxins thus stopping the formation of more red moles / angiomas.

I have those cherry angiomas too and just completed a 24 hour urine test which indicated that I am deficient in Iodine. Just started on lugol’s iodine drops.

I have also read they could be insulin/ sugar related or due to high estrogen but I can’t find those articles. I think these may be causes too if the body is trying to get rid of things it deems toxic (ie toxic amounts).

I'll just point out that the link refers to bromide in bread - which is not allowed in the EU. (Really don't know why it is permitted in the USA.)
