Hi, just started back on liquid levothyroxine… I had been splitting my daily dose 125/150 of Levo tablets but wondering if it’s ok to do this with liquid or do once a day!
Thanks guys😊

I don't know of any reason that you shouldn't split your liquid Levo. Its the same medicine just in a liquid form. Good luck getting hold of it though!
Thankyou, that makes sense! I have been prescribed it by GP on advice of Endo! Got 7 bottles yesterday (2months) 😊
Which brand
Liquid levothyroxine extremely difficult to get hold of
Generally most people on liquid levothyroxine split the dose
Hi I’ve been given two months of zentiva asked for 6 months worth like I was on couple yrs ago.. because of brand chsnged etc… but gps refusing because of cost! Was given a right lecture by their pharmacist on how many patients they have, how much it costs , what if dose changes bla bla… came off phone in tears and suicidal… we have to fight for everything and I’m just not in a good place to do that!
Thanks for helping, Sorry for offloading!
Yes it’s fine to spilt your dose on liquid levothyroxine. Or even tablet form also. I’m on liquid levothyroxine and split my dose. I feel better splitting it. The biggest problem that’s occurring with my supply of liquid levothyroxine is it’s availability. What brand are you taking. I’m struggling at the moment to get a constant supply of my brand which is Mercury Pharma 50mcg strength. I’ve just swapped to BrillPharma 75mcg strength as no Mercury Pharma available. There has been national stock outs of all brands and strengths at the beginning of this year. Are you on liquid due to absorbing issues? It’s very expensive compared to tablet form, anything from £100 a bottle to £200 a bottle depending on the strength Lots of producers are pulling out of the UK market as the government has increased import tax from 14% to 26.5%! Also price increases after Brexit and covid and the NHS has a ceiling on how much they will pay
Hi, I got my liquid Levo yesterday just changing from tablets…had it before couple yrs ago think absorb better, bit better results! Long story only had tablets couple months ( ARMOUR NDT before that ) as endo didn’t state liquid on letter so Gp reluctant at first but got 2 months of ZENTIVA 50 mcg (7 bottles at £89 per bottle (big lecture from Gp pharmacist as below)
Sorry you struggling I had same problem last time on it, no doubt be same this time… but last time got 6 months at a time on recommendation of Endo after getting different brand every month… pharmacist say they can’t order a certain brand have to have what’s sent… even if GP states a brand (which they won’t despise lots battles with me and my daughter wading in) but no luck!
It’s a nightmare fighting all time while feeling soo unwell… they won’t use the letter from last time recommending 6 months at a time but said if Endo writes again might consider it but don’t have too! Had a lecture about Cost (maybe like you said brexit ) and there’s 10,000 other people who need a share of the pot!! Forgive me for having no thyroid and not tolerating Levo 😩 they just don’t get it!
Anyway Thankyou for this will split dose! Sorry for rant hope you manage to get what you need! 😊
sorry Blanche I don’t know the answer. I’m only on a low dose (since October) so don’t have the knowledge to advise. 🤔
