I have brought selenium 200yp* from a hight Street health food shop,I am having really bad indigestion.I have taken it with food but still gives me indigestion and now I feel sicky, reading the ingredients the main one is soya bean oil do you think that this could be the problem ?
I read on the Internet that taking it with magnesium can cause indigestion *in ladies of my age group,
Shall I buy a different brand and drop the magnesium?
Thanks in advance.

Soya is controversial with thyroid. Lots of thyroid specialists say avoid it (e.g. Izabella Wentz) but official research says it's fine. Personally I avoid it and it did seem to make a difference.
I use Solgar vitamin E with selenium with breakfast and take magnesium separately in early evening.
Magnesium recommended for taking in afternoon or evening as is relaxing. It needs to be 4 or ideally 6 hours away from taking Levo. So depends if you take Levo at bedtime (I do)
Selenium may be best in mornings as it supposedly helps with T4 to T3 conversion. I take it because my gastroenterologist recommended it, but I can't say I noticed a difference.
Magnesium I found very noticeable improvement. I prefer Natural vitality Calm magnesium powder. It's cheap and as is powder can start low dose and step up slowly
That's great advice, thanks for the reply ,I will have a look at the magnesium powder, online,I will definitely take the selenium in the morning and magnesium at lunch, I also take my levo at bed time,it takes time for everything to work but I am definitely feeling loads better after advice and help on HU Thanks everyone 😎😎😎
What type of selenium did you buy there are different makes. The best to take is l-selenomethionine. It's possible you have a yeast based selenium as this causes issues in some people.
Yes it has yeast in it ,it's Defiantly not agreeing with me I will look for I-selomethionine on the ingredients,I am going to get some more I'll try Amazon they seem to have a good range.🤗
That's the culprit most likely doesn't agree with people who have digestive issues, of which most of us thyroid sufferers do.
Keep us informed if you have issues with l-selenomethionine.
As a separate note from now on it would be a good idea to get your selenium blood levels tested from time to time to ensure you're not ending up over range with selenium, too little selenium and you'll have thyroid issues and bad conversion, but too much can lead to toxicity and other negative side effects (it's rare, but happens to some so good to keep an eye on).
