Hi just wanted to post this as I have been suffering with the above for 6 months now. After being diagnosed with it and being told it could take up to 18 months to go away I decided to look into how I could help myself and also not have to take pain killers continuously. One fact I took away from this journey is that this condition is found in some patients suffering with high and low thyroid functioning. In the last year my levels have been too high then too low and it’s been during this time my shoulder has been dabilitating, the pain is indescribable. Sleep was never easy in the first place but this has made it even worse. At the moment they have upped my dose for 3 months to 150 Levi with a course of vitamin D as this was low as well I have been taking the this new prescription for a month now and feel a little better re the pain, movement is still restricted but I have to give it time. Thanks to all of you that post on here you are all a great bunch of people and it’s so good to know I can come here and find a whole host of information that we are not told.
Have a lovely day x

Do you have copies of recent blood test results for your thyroid and the VitD ? You are legally entitled to have copies of results that are yours
How much VitD were you prescribed ? - often it is too little from the GP. Vitamin D is more than a vitamin - it is anti-inflammatory - a setroidal pro-hormone and needed in every cell of the body.
Also have B12 tested along with Folate and Ferritin. Vitamin and mineral levels need to be good for the Levo to work well in the body ...
Hi Marz thanks for reply. Do not have my results but will ask for them next month when I go back next month. I am taking a vitamin D3 tablet 800iu and have to take 4 all at once once a day. I have been given this dose for 3 months and then will be tested again.
In the first link I gave you above there is a chart that shows the dose required according to test result. 3200 is a reasonable dose but I suspect not quite enough .... VitD is fat soluble and also co-factors are needed.
It is so true there are so many layers of untold information facts out there and there is not one magic pill that fits all like everything else in life we all need different things and sadly it’s easier to be a sheeple and follow the masses but for me too many things are not adding up now and I’m not feeling as I should. I know by virtue of reading and groups like this I can do something about helping myself and also possibly sharing with others to help them also
Frozen shoulder is horrible! Have had it twice.....the first time it did indeed take 18months the second time about 9 months.
The best thing that helped me was acupuncture. I went to a chiropractire that offered me this. Gave me fantastic pain relief better than any pain killers. Went twice weekly then weekly then fortnightly. Once the frozen shoulder moved into the restricted movement stage I no longer continued with acupuncture as it only hurt if I pushed beyond the range. It gradually released itself and I have full range of movement.
Ive not heard of the connection between hypothyroidism and frozen shoulder. Have plenty of friends who have had it but not hypothyroidism or suspicious underactive thyroid.
Thanks for advice I will definitely look into getting acupuncture. Sorry you have had to go through this as well. If you google frozen shoulder and thyroid you can read up on findings re the two being linked.
Hello, so sorry to hear about the frozen shoulder. I haven't had it myself but know the horrendous pain in causes. I read below that someone has recommended acupuncture which may indeed help. I just wanted to add that another option is to find a good sports massage therapist as, if they are well trained, then they have some excellent tools to help. Obviously, it wouldn't recover in one session, but soft tissue work plus some mobility exercises done at home should shorten the time it takes to recover. One of the best things you can do for the muscles is to keep them moving rather than holding them still (same with back pain). It's just a small tip but maybe you can add that to your toolbox to help get back to feeling pain free asap?
I am looking at alternative ways of getting pain relief as I do not want to take pain killers. Having pain and lack of sleep is extremely draining on top of having an under active thyroid it’s all been quite a unsettling time so finding tools to navigate through this time is crucial.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your advice I really appreciate it and will look into this.
